Inter Milan have identified Djed Spence as their top priority to fill the right-back vacancy left by Denzel Dumfries, with Tottenham Hotspur setting a €30 million asking price for the England international.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Spence has emerged as the Nerazzurri’s primary target after two failed negotiations in the pursuit of a replacement for Dumfries – a sequence that has left the right-back slot unresolved.
The first casualty was Marco Palestra. Inter appeared on the verge of signing the Atalanta-owned fullback following his impressive loan at Cagliari, only for Chelsea to move in with a larger offer that ended negotiations abruptly, to the reported fury of Giuseppe Marotta.
Next came Amer Khalaili – a deal that collapsed at the final hurdle after CONI refused to grant the player sporting eligibility, an intervention that left the club with nothing after contracts had already been agreed.
Inter’s Right-Back Hunt Intensifies
Spence is familiar to Italian football audiences having spent 2023 at Genoa. He also made an impression for England at the 2026 World Cup, with the tournament ending for the Three Lions following defeat to Argentina.
Tottenham’s €30 million asking price is less than what Inter would have been prepared to spend on the acquisition of Marco Palestra. However, the central question – how much budget Inter can free up to close the operation – remains the decisive variable before any formal approach can be made.

It is hardly surprising that Inter ultimately failed to sign Djed Spence; after all, they couldn’t even afford €25 million, let alone €35 million. Coveting Spence was nothing more than a pipe dream.
