Inter’s Sporting Director, Piero Ausilio, stopped by Premium Sport for his traditional pre-match interview moments ahead of kick-off between Inter and Atalanta at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

Ausilio began by talking about the rumours that Inter could sign Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain saying that: “We are Inter, we have to pay attention to all good football players. The January transfer window does not excite me, the opportunities to do great deals are very rare and they never improve the squad. If there is an opportunity we will be there for it.”

Ausilio was then asked about a potential swap deal where Joao Mario would go to Paris and Pastore in the opposite direction to which he said: “I am going to anticipate one of your questions, today Santon starts which is a confirmation that those who play less still work well. Everyone gives their maximum and sooner or later the moment will arrive and I think this will happen to Joao Mario too.”

Then the discussion turned to how well Geoffrey Kondogbia is doing at Valencia and Ausilio was asked what did not work out at Inter to which he was clear that “we have made our choices, also together with the player. He manifestet the idea to change leagues, he has already done well in La Liga with Sevilla and he thought that this league is more suited to him. In exchange we signed Matias Vecino who is demonstrating his qualities. I wish the Frenchman nothing but the best but I am very happy with the 5 midfielders that we have at Inter.”

In conclusion Ausilio stated that “this project started a few months ago and is going in the desired direction. There is a lot of hard work behind creating this Inter.”
