After an important win against Cagliari last night, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti spoke with Inter TV and had his say about the fixture at the Sardegna Arena which meant that Inter go top of the Serie A albeit with one more match played than their rivals
“Cagliari started in a great fashion, but if you have a strong team they know how to respond in the right way. Today the decisive thing was Mauro Icardi, he never complains and always gives every player the best support. In the second half we found the right way to organise ourselves, we won the second balls and managed to reach the win after having a lot of difficulties.”
And then you immediately got the 3-1 after Pavoletti’s goal?
“Before that we had other opportunities to score goals, Brozovic was a great substitute. Candreva fought to the end when it seemed he did not have anything more to give. Borja, Skriniar and Miranda were also very good. Cagliari attacker Lassú did great, but we had no problem changing the team’s gameplan.”
Without Miranda and Gagliardini you go back to a team you talked about a couple of weeks ago?
“After this game, we will see what happens but players like this can be replaced since we have such a great squad.”
Are you worried about Vecino’s injury?
“He can recuperate from his injury, but at the same time we might lose him for the next game, but we have a lot of trust in this team.”
