Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia suffered no ill effects from the knock picked up at the end of last year against Lazio and should be fit to face Fiorentina on Friday night.

The former Bari defender was injured towards the end of the first half against the Rome side and looked like he may have to go off. The Italian international managed to finish the game however but there were question marks over his fitness in the immediate aftermath of the game.

The former Genoa player went through some tests today which have shown him not to be carrying any serious injury. He is fit and now eligible for Inter’s game away to Fiorentina this weekend. Welcome news to Inter as they are struggling with numbers in defence at the moment due to the injuries of Joao Miranda and Danilo D’Ambrosio.

Inter go into the game 3rd in the Serie A table on 41 points behind Juventus and Napoli who are 2nd and 1st respectively.
