Cagliari sporting director Marcello Carli has admitted that if a big club is to come in for Nicolo Barella, the player will get the final say on what happens.

“I would personally like to keep him around. Barella is a great player and still has a lot of room for improvement, especially tactically. I would like for Barella to become an important player for Cagliari, but I can not promise anything. If a big team comes in for him with an important bid, it depends on what the boy wants, but we would like for him to stay at the club.”

Inter are among the potential suitors for the 21-year-old midfielder who is playing well beyond his years. In the recently concluded season, Barella made a total of 35 appearances for the Rossoblu across all competitions. He found the back of the net on six occassions and gained many plaudits along the way for his continued good performances for the Sardinian club.
