Valencia sporting director Mateu Alemany has confirmed that the Spanish club will not change the current agreement they have with Inter over Joao Cancelo at a press conference where he spoke on various topics following the conclusion of their 2017/18 season.

“Inter is interested in keeping Joao Cancelo. They can buy him by May 31 paying the full amount. Our position is that we will not change the sum agreed for the redemption. If Inter wanted to renegotiate the agreement for Joao Cancelo, they should do the same for Geoffrey Kondogbia, but it will not happen.”

Despite Champions League qualification helping out, Inter still must be careful with how they spend their money due to having to abide to the financial agreement signed with UEFA and are therefore looking to aid themselves by reducing the Portuguese’s fee.

Alemany then went on to discuss Kondogbia and reaffirmed their desire to take up their option to redeem him for €25 million.

“We have not yet exercised the right of redemption for Kondogbia, but we will do so. He already knows this and for us he is a useful investment.”
