Ivan Perisic has refused to confirm that he will still be an Inter player next season, telling reporters at the World Cup in Russia that “we’ll see when I get back to Italy.”
Perisic scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists for the Nerazzurri during the 2017-18 campaign as they secured a long-awaited return to the UEFA Champions League, but his future at the club remains uncertain due to Inter’s Financial Fair Play issues.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the player after fellow Premier League outfit Manchester United pursued the Croatian international throughout last summer’s transfer window, only to be left empty-handed after Inter refused to budge on their initial asking price of €50 million.
Asked if he was excited about the prospect of playing in the Champions League with the Nerazzurri next season, Perisic said: “I don’t want to talk about other things at the moment, I’m playing in the World Cup. We’ll see when I get back to Italy.”
Perisic has made 67 appearances for the Croatian national team since making his debut in 2011 and was part of the side that defeated Nigeria in their World Cup Group D opener on Saturday night.
