Soon to be Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has identified Inter midfielder Matias Vecino as his number one target as per a report from Corriere della Sera.

Sarri wants to add a centre back, a central midfielder and a striker and Corriere della Sera understand that Sarri will do all his shopping within Serie A and wants Daniele Rugani, Vecino and Gonzalo Higuain to reinforce his squad for the upcoming season.

Sarri and Vecino are no stranger’s to one another having worked together previously at Empoli. Sarri made a failed attempt to sign Vecino for Napoli last summer before the Uruguayan international ditched Fiorentina for a move to Inter.

Last season Vecino made 31 appearances across all competitions and scored three and delivered just as many assists. The 26-year-old was the scorer of the all important goal against Lazio on the final day of the season that in turn qualified Inter for next season’s Champions League after a prolonged absence.
