With the transfer window underway, former Juventus and Italian international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon took stock of the situations of each of the three clubs who finished directly behind Juventus last season.

“Inter have been making targeted purchases, which can change the look of their team and make them bigger protagonists [in the title race],” Buffon said in an interview with Sky Sports.

“I liked Roma a lot last year. Di Francesco brought about a change of mentality that Roma needed.”

Buffon, who hung up his gloves at the end of last season, spoke on Napoli, who kept the pressure on Juventus until the very end.

“They had an incredible season and at one point I thought they would win the title. They played wonderful football that made fans fall for the Neapolitans. There has to be regret about the Europa League though where they could have been protagonists until the end.”
