The “honeymoon is already over” for former Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar at PSG, as the 29-year-old has fallen out of favour.

This according to French news outlet L’Equipe, via FCInterNews. The outlet report that the Parisians are already to search for a new defensive signing this summer.

Skriniar was at the centre of a months-long transfer saga between Inter and Paris Saint-Germain prior to his move last summer.

The French champions had tried to sign Skriniar in the summer of 2022.

There had been offers from the Parisians, and advanced negotiations with Inter.

However, the Nerazzurri never ended up accepting any of PSG’s offers. Reports suggested that none of the bids were high enough for their liking.

Therefore, Inter did not end up selling Skriniar to PSG that summer.

Instead, the former Sampdoria defender went into the final season of his contract with Inter, which expired at the end of last June.

Inter attempted to persuade Skriniar to sign a new deal.

There were negotiations between the Nerazzurri and the Slovakian international in the fall.

However, Skriniar opted not to extend his contract with Inter. Instead, he joined PSG on a free transfer.

Ex Inter Defender Milan Skriniar Already Out Of Favour At PSG – “Honeymoon Over”

PSG brought in Skriniar as a high-profile defensive reinforcement for coach Luis Enrique, who also arrived last summer.

However, the former Barcelona and Spain coach has not been overly convinced by Skriniar, L’Equipe report.

That is reflected in the fact that Skriniar has made just sixteen appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

That is partly due to injury. However, L’Equipe report, even when fit Skriniar has not been a player Enrique has been keen to play.

The back injury that Skriniar suffered last season looks to be a significant factor in this.

The Slovakian was out for the majority of the second half of last season after undergoing surgery to correct a back injury.

And it appears as though that continues to affect the defender’s performances.

Therefore, L’Equipe report, PSG do not see Skriniar as a reliable player to marshall their defense for the future.

The Parisans already signed a defender during the January transfer window – 20-year-old Brazilian Lucas Beraldo.

And it was Beraldo who started the first leg of PSG’s Champions League quarterfinal tie against Barcelona, despite Skriniar being fit.

Now, Skriniar’s future is up in the air. The former Inter man could use the remaining matches of the season to prove that there is still a place for him at the Parc des Princes.

Alternatively, PSG could already be thinking of unloading Skriniar after just one season.

The Slovakian had spent six years at Inter, by contrast.

In any event, L’Equipe report, PSG will be aiming to sign a defender this summer.
