Former Juventus and Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella is a big fan of Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez.

The former Italy international called the Nerazzurri captain a “lovely player to watch” while speaking on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Martinez has certainly become Inter’s key man in recent seasons.

The Argentine has worn the captain’s armband for the Nerazzurri since the start of the current season. He inherited the captaincy from Samir Handanovic last summer.

Martinez has been Inter’s top goalscorer in each of the past three seasons.

This season, the 26-year-old has found the back of the net 23 times in Serie A – and 26 in all competitions.

Martinez also provides far more than just goals.

The Argentine international and 2022 World Cup winner has been the man who sets the tone for the way that the team play in both phases of play.

That means that Martinez’s defensive workrate is vital for Inter out of possession.

And when the team do have the ball, it is very often the captain whose linkup play moves the ball into and around the final third.

Fabio Quagliarella Full Of Praise For Lautaro Martinez

Former striker Quagliarella gave his thoughts on Martinez’s growth at Inter.

“When he first arrived at Inter, I honestly didn’t think that he’s reach this level,” he said of the Argentine international striker.

“But he’s done so, and in an incredible way.”

“The thing that’s great to see with him is that he makes the entire team well,” Quagliarella said of Martinez.

“Then, he manages to score every type of goal,” he added.

“Lautaro is just a lovely player to watch,” the former Juventus and Torino striker concluded.

Martinez has made a total of 278 appearances for Inter since joining in 2018. He has scored 128 goals for the club.
