Chelsea could offer former Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku as part of a deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate another potential turbulent transfer for the Belgian.

It has been a chaotic few years for Lukaku.

The former Everton striker joined Inter from Manchester United in the summer of 2019. He spent two very successful years, at the Nerazzurri, winning the Serie A title in 2021.

A massive money move to Chelsea followed for Lukaku.

However, the Belgian never really lived up to expectations or the price tag at Stamford Bridge. Injuries played a role as Lukaku failed to find the form he had at Inter.

Therefore, Lukaku pushed for a shock return to Inter in 2022.

In his season back at the Nerazzurri on loan, Lukaku once again suffered from a number of injuries that limited his contribution.

Nevertheless, Inter had wanted to bring Lukaku back permanently last summer.

The Nerazzurri had looked to be on the verge of an agreement with Chelsea on a deal.

But the situation devolved into a chaotic soap opera. Inter were unable to get a hold of Lukaku, and then found out that the Belgian had been negotiating with bitter rivals Juventus.

That was enough for Inter to abruptly pull the plug on a deal to sign Lukaku.

Lukaku did not end up making the switch to Juventus.

Despite the links with the Bianconeri and AC Milan, the striker remained at Chelsea until the dying days of the transfer window.

Then, Roma swooped in to take advantage of Lukaku’s situation.

The Giallorossi signed the former Inter striker on a season-long loan deal.

That is where Lukaku has been playing this season. He has scored twenty goals in all competitions this season.

Roma have a purchase option to sign the 30-year-old permanently. But there is hardly any certainty that they will exercise it.

However, the Gazzetta report, Lukaku could be playing for yet another Serie A club next season.

The newspaper anticipate that Chelsea are dead set on signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

And the Blues could make an offer containing 80 million plus Lukaku to sign the Nigerian.

However, the Belgian’s high wages could present an obstacle, the Gazzetta report.
