Andrea Stramaccioni was interviewed by Sky Italia after tonights loss against Atalanta and was a naturally very disappointed:

“Im not disappointed with Inter, it’s a shame because if we hadn’t conceded that third goal we might have been able to go home with a point but fair play to Atalanta. We suffered a bit from the way in which they started the match, when they took the lead through Bonaventura and also Consigli who kept their team ahead.”

Stramaccioni went on to discuss the referee and the penalty that was very dubious to say the least:

“I didn’t comment on what happened in Turin and I’m not going to comment on tonights decisions. We knew this was going to be a difficult match, congratulations to Atalanta but my Inter didn’t deserve to lose today. I didn’t see any negative trends on the pitch today, but now we have to keep on working and think about the match next Sunday. I didn’t have any back-up players available which is why I chose to play with Guarin and the 3 strikers. If I had played Cambiasso in defence and with two central midfielders we would have suffered a lot, but I never got the feeling during the match that they were tearing us apart. Atalanta have many quick players up front like Maxi Moralez, Schelotto and Denis, With a little bit of luck the game could have ended differently.”

Today Inter played with 4 defenders:

“Yes, maybe their 2 strikers where quite a handfull but I think that a midfielder should help out in defence. Before we played with a 3-man defence because we conceded to much space in the middle of the pitch, but today we covered up that area rather well. Of course this isn’t an excuse. We played like Inter during tonights fixture, those out on the pitch tonight could feel that we played with a very high tempo and I thought we would be able to tire them out. This loss shouldn’t take away our enthusiasm, we have Cagliari next week who are doing very well at the minute, so we have to keep working hard this week with our heads held high.”

Stramaccioni also wanted to compliment both Atalanta and their goalkeeper Consigli for his amazing saves which he did when he was interviewed by RAI

“After 2-1 we could’ve equalized, but then came the penalty that changed the game. But that’s that and there’s nothing we can do about now.”

Could the changes have come sooner?

“Yes, but at the end we played very offensively. We could’ve held that pressure for 15-20 minutes, and when we saw that Atalanta were starting to get tired it could have been the opportunity to turn the game around.”

According to Paola Ferrari at Rai Sport Inter were a tired team with few ideas, could the return of Sneijder be convenient?

“Well, we can always use a player lite Wes. Some of the players were tired but I don’t think they lacked ideas. It’s not easy to come here and play, especially if Atalanta takes the lead. After 2-1 we had our opportunities to equalize, but the penalty made life very hard for us. Those who played deversed my confidence, because we didn’t lose because we played bad but because Atalanta made the most of their opportunities and they had Consigli in the goal. We’ll have to respect the final result.”

But does the result come from the changes in you formation?

“No, we don’t want to come to that conclusion. We didn’t change that much in the centre of our game, and even when I wanted to change the outcome of the game I made the changes of the flanks because I had very few options in the middle. And to change the front I would’ve had to change the middle because those to are very linked.
