Former Inter goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has praised current Nerazzurri No 1 Samir Handanovic.

The Slovenian international moved to San Siro this summer, for around €11m, after Brazilian international Julio Cesar was told to find a new club.

“He has surprised me with how well he has adapted at Inter, a much bigger club than Udinese and one where there is more pressure,” the 1994 World Cup ‘keeper told Radio Mana Mana.

“With the saves he is making, he has the opportunity to help everyone forget a great former player like Julio Cesar.”

The 28-year-old has been one of Serie A’s most in-form goalkeepers after making 12 League appearances so far.

Julio Cesar, part of Inter’s treble winning side of 2010, joined Premiership outfit Queens Park Rangers on August 29.
