Zanetti: “We wish Wes all the best”

Inter’s talismanic skipper Javier Zanetti, was interviewed by RAI shortly after tonights draw at the Stadio Olimpico between his Inter and Roma and was immediately asked if tonights result meant that it was two points lost or 1 point gained in the chase for next years Champions League: “It is definately a point gained, there are still many matches left to play. Inter played a good game against Roma who put us in difficulties but we also had chances to win tonight. We are feeling good, despite the 120 minutes in the Coppa Italia we managed to play with a high intensity and that is not easy during these circumstances.
Naturaly Zanetti was asked regarding the transfer of Sneijder to Galatasaray: “We wish him all the best, Sneijder achieved great things here together with us, now he has chosen to go on a different path and to play in a different league. His qualities however are not up for debate, I wish him all the best both as a captain and as a friend. How do Inter’s prospects look after Sneijder’s departure? We’re on a new path, we’re developing and we continue to grow, we’ve had our highs and lows but we’re fully confident that we will be able to finish in the top 3.”
Zanetti was also asked to give his perception of the penalty awarded to Roma and chose to answer diplomatically: “On the pitch it looked like a correct decision but after the match they told us that Ranocchia didn’t even touch him. The most important thing is that we didn’t lose our heads, we managed to equalize and the after the break we created just as many chances as Roma. I think in the end a draw was the most fair result.”
Moments later Zanetti was asked by Premium Calcio about his embrace of Zeman after the final whistle: “I know him very well, I went over to him to thank him for all the kind words he said about me yesterday and to also salute him. He has always been a great coach, I’ve always held him i high regard” Zanetti concludes.
