“We need to start taking control of games again.” Andrea Stramaccioni spoke in a confident, determined manner as he looked ahead to tomorrow’s match at the Meazza against Chievo, scheduled to kick off at 20:45.
The Nerazzurri coach went on: “That’s the basic idea, regardless of which formation we go with. We must be in control of games for the whole 90 minutes again. Show the quality to get at the opposition and cause problems for them, think like a big team.”
Stramaccioni knows what he wants from his players, and the players want it too as they prepare to face a side that “in the reverse fixture earlier this season showed how organised they are, although it was under a different coach. Then Corini came in and he’s given them an even stronger identity and made them more compact. They won in Rome, they were in it right up to the end against Juve. They’re a team that deserves respect.
“We’ve gone through a run of games in which we didn’t play like Inter. Tomorrow we must play like Inter. It’s up to us to take the game to our opponents and put them under pressure. I don’t want to see a repeat of what happened at Siena, and nor do the players. We’ve put Siena behind us. It’s our duty to do battle on the pitch right till the very end – that’s what you expect from Inter.”
Futher opinions on the players:
Kuzmanovic is fit for fight and as many qualities as a midfielder on a midfield with 2 or 3 central midfielders. Kovacic speaks for himself, his numbers speaks for themselves. He is 18 years old with 11-12 matchen in Champions League. He can play anywhere on the midfield and has skills above the average player. Cambiasso are ready to play and he wanted to play against Siena aswell. We miss Samuel, he is a great player, but we’ll manage somehow.”
“In attack, we have six players to take place in the trident. Milito, Cassano, Palacio, Rocchi, Alvarez and Schelotto. Cassano, Milito and Palacio have managed to put fear in all defenders in Serie A, but you must keep the game balanced. I have a plan to use them all, but not at the same time.”
Will Balotelli change the course of the hunt for third place?
“Milan has made an investment and they bought an important player for the attack. But I really don’t have any comments on the matter.
