Kovacic, Livaja, and then Halilovic. The most talented Croatians leave home and move to the major leagues in Europe at a very young age. A considerable problem for the country, as pointed out by the former Milan-midfielder Zvominir Boban in SkySport24:

“Football in Croatia is becoming only a transfer market. Players leave immediately, from a very young age and the club have no choice but to sell. Especially now with all the youth academies.”
