Last night, Gazzetta della Sport dropped the bomb on the Inter-world. Erick Thorir will buy 75% of Inter. Not yet confirmed from Inter or Thorir, but it seems more and more likely that Massimo Moratti will sell his ownership of Inter. Some people embraces these news with a warm welcome, other fear for what might happen now. I’m far away from happy.
A wise man said that Inter should be owned by a Moratti, a Facchetti or a Zanetti. I’m sticking to that cause. Of course, Thorir’s money can buy a whole lot of good player, but I’m sure, that’s not with it is all about. Inter is not the top of the world and I have come to peace with that. Totally cool with the fact that Inter can’t make the big signings or win the league or the Champions League every year. I can accept all that, because Inter stands for a struggle and tradition and a culture which can’t be described in any other words than “Inter”. I would never come to peace with Inter losing her soul and becoming like PSG or Manchester City.
Maybe, it won’t be like that with Erick Thorir as owner of Inter, but there is a chance. Maybe, he does know all of Inter’s tradtitions and morals. Maybe. But with the Moratti-family in charge we all know that traditions stays and the Inter-culture keeps matching on. Even there, it’s not flawless. Take last year’s red jersey as an example. Massimo Moratti got criticized very hard for that. Who knows? Thorir might scrap the black and blue-shirts and go for an all red jersey. He probably won’t, but he has the power to do that, if this sale becomes reality. And for what? Money.
Not long ago, a friend invited me to this sale-event for some energy-drink. We listened to a very talented speak from the US called Todd (I’ve forgotten his last name) who held the audience glued to their chairs, dreaming about money. However, Todd seemed to be under the influence that money equals happiness and success. I don’t stand behind that. He told us how he done this and that and became a multi-millionaire and if we, the audience, would invest in this energy-drink, we would be millionaires as well. I would not even invest two fluffy turds, does that mean I’m looking at a million dollars on the table saying; “Nah, I’m good”…?
Of course not, but I’ve never dreamed about selling energy-drinks. I’d love to be a millionaire, but the money is secondary. Life is too short to sell energy-drinks. I would rather spend my mind, power and time on writing for you than try to force you to buy “the next Redbull”. Because Inter and SempreInter is something that I believe in and I am proud to be a part of this movement, even if it does not pay off. Do good things with good people, that’s my way of life. To “American History X”-stomp a can of energy-drink with aloe vera, 37 vitamins, fyton, kolinklorid and kokosnestklorid down somebody’s throat, was never part of my dreams.
I see Inter the same way. I don’t follow Inter because they have the best players or because they always win. You stand behind Inter because of what the club stands for. We are all brothers around the world. The loyalty from bandiere like Facchetti, Zanetti or Materazzi. Massimo Moratti is an Inter-bandiera. It is man who’s family’s life has been given to Inter and he is the strongest frontfigure for the entire Inter as a brand. I’m fine with Juventus winning the league-title this season. I’m okey with Inter going twenty, thirty, forty years without winning the Champions League. I want my (entirely theoretical) kids to love Inter for the same reasons I love Inter. I don’t want my darling in the hands of Erick Thorir. Thorir is wrong man in the wrong place. He is not more than fat wallet with legs in the Inter-fans eyes. So, to summarize all this, I would like to finish with a quote from Tony Soprano in the HBO-success “The Sopranos”.
“This is what it’s all about right, motherfucking, cocksucking, money!?!?”

Really happy to see such clever comments from really passionate supporters. It’s great to such a mind state. These are only my personal opinons and I know I’m quite conservative. I’m just concerned in what matter Thohir’s money would affect Inter as a brand and it’s cultural history. Yet, if this deal goes through, I’d love to be proven wrong and see Thohir take us on into a new era with the same passion shared by Moratti and all the Inter-fans.
Thank you all for your comments! 🙂
Sorry, but have to disagree .
1. I like Moratti a lot, and one couldn’t ask for a better and more passionate president. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt our beloved club..witch he himself loves with all of his heart.
So, when he is selling his club to someone, I can’t help but think it’s for the clubs best.
Inter have been in the Moratti family on-and-of for decades, and Massimo have been a fan all his life. He’s lost more money on Inter than we can imagine, and probably more sleepless nights than all my nights together (I’m 33:-)
He WOULD NOT JUMP SHIP for some millions of euros if he thought the new captain would sink it.
2. If I understand (the rumors) right, Moratti will still hav 25% (? right) AND will keep his position (or close to it) at the club.
Thorhir has on top of that made some kind of guaranty that he’ll contribute in the mercato and help the team before the season starts financially.. win win if you ask me.
3 Thohir also said that he wanted Inter because he’s been watching Serie A with his father since he was a little boy (sounds familiar) and he ONLY wanted Inter.
4. I’m not a fan of the way Monaco, ManCity, PSG and the likes try to bye trophies. I think it’s ruining football in some ways. When managers like Harry Redknap sais he would like to manage abroad, and he is intreeged bye football in Spain, France, Dubai and the United Arabs..you KNOW it’s not for footballing challenges.
But unless UEFA/FIFA comes up with a way to make money a lesser important player in the game. You got to roll with it and try to keep as much of the passion and integrity or you can play in Serie B for “Hounors”.
When Monaco can play at home in front of 5000 people and bye 5 players a season between 50 and 100 million Euros without consequences, then something with football is wrong.
I believe Moratti and Thorhir will keep the passion and the integrity in the club without letting money ruining it eather by bying what we want to work for or by bankrupting the club we love…
hope I made some sense 🙂 It’s ben a long day 🙂
Forza Inter 🙂
What is it with this ‘Im happy being shit as long as we are stuck in this Nostalgia of being Moratti owned or a ‘family club’ getting weaker and weaker year by year slowly falling off the radar?! We support Inter to win and be successful not the Moratti family and the Club second. It is about time we start to want success for the Club instead of sucking on Morattis cock whilst he smokes his cigar and Inter get himiliated on the pitch! Bring on Thohir I and a revolution I say! And I have supported and loved Inter since I was 5 (1989) been through it all ups & downs and I can honestly say Moratti has nothing else to offer Inter and Thohir WILL not let Inter lose it’s identity. #Grow a pair and Evolve
Agree with alot off what you are saying, but you are a little harsh on Thohir. If you was a multi billionaire and was interested in buying this club, everyone would say the same thing about you. It is no age limit in starting to fall in love with a club. If he wants to spend money, give us a new stadium, fix our finacial problems and remove us from beeing a cursed 9th place team, I would be fine with that. And he said himself that Moratti will still have a presidental role at the club, and get advise from him and his trusted men to learn as much as possible. I have faith you should to. I will allways love inter, but I belive it’s time for a change, obviously Moratti do also. Otherwise he wouldnt have agreed to sell a miority share. It’s better to get back in CL instead of fighting relegation. And inter have to much history to many fans to be a mid table team, agree to disagree, but this is my opinion on the matter.
