Inter is back, not on the same level as when the treble was taken in 2010 but the team has made its comeback after a long break. The team is back with a solid defense and fast counter attacks, led by a rock solid coach on the side who controls his men. On the field there are 11 players who fight to take the victory in front of the fantastic supporters who are there for them no matter what. In many ways it could be said that Inter are back like we know them and how we want them to be, but it’s to early to say right now. Yet is Mateo Kovacic to give this team all he got(what a difference when he came on against Genoa), and Saphir Taider as well will be very interesting to see. It was a comeback for the victory at San Siro and most importantly for the clean sheet. In the shadow of this Icardi proved what monstrous physics he has and together with Palacio in the attack Inter’s game changed in a positive way when the young Argentine entered against Genoa. This is just a taste of what is awaiting before another elder Argentine makes his.. thats right, comeback.
Of course I’m talking about Diego Milito. The prince who was seriously injured in February has been absent from the field for a little bit more than six months. Last Saturday he made his comeback against Brescia for the primavera. In only six months he came back from this serious injury. Quite remarkable considering his age. Coming back that fast when thinking about his age is impressive, amazing. It shows what a champion he is and what the will of a champion can do. When he was interviewed after the game he said that it was his choice to play the game. Who knows when Milito will be back but if he plas 45 minutes with the primavera it’s not unreal that he could be q substitute against Juventus. The dreams are many but it would indeed be beautiful to see Milito come on and score against the bianconeri, just as that great night on the 3rd of November 2012. This dream might appear far from reality but one dream that has been dashed is the return of Samuel Eto’o.
The Cameroonian’s move to Chelsea is a done deal. He signs a contract worth €6 million a year and there is an option for extension. Inter were probably not even close after Rooney chose to stay with United. Mourinho calls to Eto’o are hard to refuse and who can blame him. €6 million a season, a project that clearly can provide an additional CL victory and the league title which would make Eto’o historic. A league title and the CL title in all the major leagues, beat that. Or why not a third triple in the trunk of one of Africa’s (if not the best) players of all time. San Mou calls and Inter are beaten, but it was, after all, just a dream. A dream that many didn’t even regard as a dream because they want to focus on Icardi and Belfodil who are the future. However, Eto’o could mean the difference between a CL-spot or not, let’s put the dreams aside and focus on what is reality.
Inter still need a winger and in my opinion a midfielder. A striker would have been good, but doesn’t feel too necessary. This is where the focus may lie. Reality can also be combined with dreams. Imagine when Jonathan was most criticized last season (I criticized him too). Perhaps he dreamed then that the San Siro just wanted to give him a chance and that the supporters would be on his side. Now the dream has become a reality. Jonathan is being applauded and is an icon among supporters, he has also been nicknamed “Il divino” the divine. If Jonathan were to have a really good season, he gets his revenge on everyone. The reality was tough, but it’s also nice to be able to dream yourself away. The best feeling is when your dreams become a reality.
