San Siro to host the 2015 Heineken Cup

One year before the final of the Champions League which is set to be played at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro in 2016, the stadium has been appointed to be the host of rugby’s equivalent to football’s Champions League final. Today the European Rugby Confederation, ERC, announced that Milano and San Siro will be hosting the final of the 2015 Heineken Cup.

However, it should be noted that given the chaos that’s currently surrounding European rugby where English and French clubs are pushing to change the current format of the competition, it’s very likely that the event could be cancelled entirely and that the final will be played somewhere else in a different venue and in a different format.
