Lukas Spendlhofer is currently on loan to Varese and in an interview with Sport10 the Austrian defender, who is coming from Inter’s youth section, talked about his new experience, which for him only has meant 96 minutes of play so far: “It’s still a step forward, I’m not disappointed, you have to be realistic. Serie B is a good league, it is perhaps not as fast as the German second division but it is a more tactical league and the quality of the players is more important. I was surprised by the fact that coach Stefano Sottili has been a defender, it means that he will teach me a lot. I also talked to him about the Austrian national team and according to him I need to be there.”
Spendlhofer then talked about his life in Italy and the love of the country: “Maybe it’s a bit expensive to live here, but I feel so much love for Italy. After two years in Milan, I wanted the move to Varese, but I must say that it was a good choice. Nevertheless, I’m still attached to Inter and I go to see the Primavera’s games when I can and when I have a day off I go to Milan. I always go back to Austria with joy, but now I feel at home in Italy, with the lifestyle and food culture.”
A food he doesn’t give up even when he is in Austria to play with the national team: “We often eat pasta and risotto before the games in Italy, I certainly won’t give that up for just one game.”
