A notably irritated Walter Mazzarri was interviewed by Sky after tonights fixture which saw his Inter lose 4-2 to his former team Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.

“Today I paid compliments to my players, I’m proud of them. We have to work harder in retaining possession and how we build up the play. We put Napoli in difficulties all the time, we imposed our game upon them and they could only counter-attack us but with high quality. We didn’t pay attention to covering up spaces but we had the will to play well however we miss too many chances, but if we always play like this we won’t be loosing many matches.”

“The sending off? It was a series of wrong decisions which decided the match when we were at our best. Alvarez first booking was non-existent, he trips, that’s all. This episode hurt us a lot. Probably we’re very unlucky with him, he was also in charge fo the match against Roma. Today he got many decisions wrong, there were a couple of hand-ball situations involving Albiol and Meertens. Whenever the situation is reversed we never get any penalties with us.”

The Mazzarri was asked about the welcome he got from Napoli’s supporters: “I have always had an excellent relationship with Napoli’s Curva Sud and they know how things ended. They also know the reasons why I left and these aren’t what some people are trying to make things seem. But we’re looking forward, today I’m fuming because we lose a match which we dominate.”

“If we concede too many goals? I saw some individual errors. We decided to play in a certain way and therefore we risked a lot. But their first two goals were caused by two clear errors: the first goal Nagatomo fails to clear the ball properly and for the second Campagnaro looses the ball in the middle of the pitch. All the goals come from us loosing the ball when creating something going forward, when we’re trying to build on a play. Sometimes maybe we exaggerate. Today we went back to playing like we did before, but we were made to pay for everything, including the awful performance of the referee.”

Finally he was asked about the rumored breakdown between Thohir and Moratti and the voices which say that he’s close to being sacked: “I already know everything, I don’t have to read anything. But do you think that I would leave before two such important fixtures?”
