As the dust settles on Inter’s dramatic late victory in Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, the Nerazzurri and the rest of Serie A head off for a two week break to incorporate the holiday festivities around the world. Whilst the players enjoy a well deserved rest and we start to think about the mercato, the opening fixture of 2014, it seems an appropriate time to take a look back over what took place in an eventful 2013. We’ve selected our top five matches of the year and hope you enjoy casting your mind back over some of the best parts of another tumultuous 12 months for the black and blue half of Milan. Catania 2 Inter 3 – (Alvarez, Palacio, Palacio)
2-0 down and looking completely out of sync, Andrea Stramaccioni turned to one of Inter’s veterans in his our of need and boy did Deki Stankovic deliver. An incredible second half fightback followed and the first classic of 2013 had been played out.

Inter 4 Tottenham 1 (Cassano, Palacio, Gallas (OG), Alvarez)
It wasn’t quite enough but Stramaccioni’s Inter gave Tottenham the fright of their lives. Had Esteban Cambiasso completed the turnaround in the 90th minute we would have been talking about this one until the end of time. As it is this is still a standout game of 2013

Sassuolo 0 Inter 7 (Palacio, Taider, Pucino (OG), Alvarez, Milito, Cambiasso, Milito)
The perfect game? A clean sheet, seven goals, the return of a Prince. This one had just about everything for a Nerazzurri fan to enjoy. Was it your favourite game of the year though?

Inter 2 Fiorentina 1 (Cambiasso, Jonathan)
Inter suffered throughout this game, a feeling they had in common with the supporters from the Curva Nord who had been locked outside by the FIGC. trailing 1-0, a stand in captain and a player reborn lead the Nerazzurri to a memorable comeback victory.

Inter 1 Milan 0 (Palacio)
No tifo, nearly a derby without the Curva’s altogether but what transpired was a perfect ending to the year if you support the Black and Blue half of Milan. Goal on the video below is at 16:45…..
