While everyone surely knows by now of the current sell-to-buy policy in place, that does not mean Inter is sitting idle by while the transfer window is passing. According to mercato journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Brazilian attacking midfielder Hernanes has been noted as a top target by Mazzarri.

With his team doing poorly this season, it is of no surprise that the highly-rated player could seek pastures new. Lazio has put a €17 million price tag on the disgruntled star, but that has not stopped Inter from talking to the player and his agent. An agreement in principle has been reached for a four year, €2.5 million net salary deal. This may be well and good, but unless Inter sell either one of Ranocchia or Guarin, Inter cannot afford the deal this window. If not in January, then in June it will be reassessed.
