According to Corriere dello Sport the unsavoury incident involving Pablo Osvaldo and a Southampton teammate could open the door for Inter and a possible acquisition. “In August Southampton paid €15 million plus bonuses for Osvaldo and the English club would not want to send him on loan. Especially without having the ‘certainty’ of a redemption at the end of the season. If they can cash in on the sale of Guarin to Galatasaray, Inter may decide to offer a solution (ideal for the budget) of the loan with redemption in the summer. Mazzarri admires Osvaldo greatly.”
