After failing to convince since the rumoured departure of Fredy Guarin, Mateo Kovacic has only shown flashes that he can be depended upon by coach Walter Mazzarri. This is the opinion of Gazzetta dello Sport. Whilst recognising that many others were cast aside during Inter’s disastrous 2013 the paper states that Kovacic’s situation will not be helped by the arrival of Hernanes. Now it is up to the club to decide whether it’s best to use the young Croation off the bench or if a loan is more appropriate to continue his development.
