Almost one year has passed since that infamous night in Florence in which Inter were battered out of sight by a rampant Viola. Inter have a different coach, some different players but once again found themselves as massive underdogs entering this fixture. One could have benn forgiven for thinking that Walter Mazzarri’s press conference on Friday was that of a coach who believed his side were beaten before the game even kicked off. Mind games, a cautious approach whatever it was, it worked. Mazzarri’s players showed an excellent attitude from the very first minute. They played with purpose, desire and a sense of urgency that has been sorely missed during a wretched start to 2014.
Let’s not sugar coat this, Inter HAD to show a reaction after a miserable showing in Turin earlier this month coupled with a run of uninspiring performances throughout 2014. Once again Walter Samuel was magnificent, getting this beast of a man back has been absolutely key for the Nerazzurri in the last two weeks. Whether directing others or throwing himself in front of opponents shots, Samuel is having a renaissance for Inter when Mazzarri and his side need it most. In fact the backline in general have done very little wrong in successive games, unfortunately the same can’t be said for their normally reliable goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. Anybody who has watched Inter over the last 18 months knows what an exceptional goalkeeper Handanovic is but he is not performing at the levels we have seen previously. He should have kept Cuadrado’s equaliser out and looked nervous on many occasions throughout the second half. Inter will be hoping that form is temporary and class is permanent for their number one shot stopper.
I could go through the whole side and point to a list of positives, from the flourishing partnership of Hernanes and Guarin in central midfield to the penetrating runs from Nagatomo until he finally ran out of steam near the end. Rodrigo Palacio was a constant threat and despite not being decisive on this occasion Diego Milito showed some improvement on last week’s efforts. The final word can of course only go to one man, ridiculed for his off the pitch antics this is the Mauro Icardi all Interisti have been waiting for. The finish was beautiful and his impact on the match was undeniable. Walter Mazzarri and all involved will of course keep the players feet on the ground but the improvement is undeniable and let us all hope that last years beating and the awful start to this year is now firmly in the rear view mirror.
Avanti cosi ragazzi…….

2.5 for handa? he couldn’t see the ball… have you ever played as gk?
Relax, guys. These all are for our inter, that’s why we’re here, right? Good or bad, different or same, everyone has their own mind and rights. Just remind us,last two performances are better but not too impressive,at least for me. I dont like how inter played, but i do like the result. Above all, these last two winning hasnt mean that we back to our track to be superb team. Not yet. Inter isnt at that level yet. We created chances, but it came from counter attack and corner/free kick. Our defense was good, but not for midfield, although i have different opinion regards midfield here. I just dont like that we always got attacked,we cant keep playing like that, heavily attacked, make a good defense, create a perfect counter attack and then goal. Further,we luck in last two games. Anyway,i just do like the result, thank to mazzarri and all players,i hope it will be better in next games, lets wait and see, guys
So many positives in this great performance.
The whole team needs to be applauded and encouraged to reproduce the evident compactness that was on show tonight, if anything, with time, and after Hernanes integration in to the team,we should get better and better.
My friends I agree in a part of your comments…we not yet a super team.. but I don’t think mazzari its the problem..our roster its a very difficult roster with some pleyers that cant give something more .. easy injury pleyers and some guys that looks uninterested can’t help the team !! That’s why mazzari looks to reshape the team.!! Bytheway we can reach the UCL place!!
Nice job from Icardi as i said, and i hope Next season Vidic can be a reliable replacement for Samuel who did very good during these two games
Lets not get carried away here, it doesn’t take a genius to see that Viola played extremely poor today. Two victories in a row and suddenly the past 3 months are forgotten. The problems with Mazzarri and Inter are still very obvious, a 1-0 victory against a team on their way to Serie B and a 2-1 victory against a crisis hit Fiorentina is not that impressive. Not to talk about the winning goal could easily have been disallowed for a clear offside, Inter had the luck today, but in form opponents will not be as forgiving as Sassuolo or Fiorentina.
I am still far from convinced that Mazzarri is the right man for Inter, i will need more than two wins against mediocre teams to change my mind.
Partly agree with some points of your comment bro but in addition consider us ourselves whole condition right away, we are not also a real competitive team this term, just a little improved in these two weeks but obviously the lads did some good acts tonight and i appreciate it, just wanted to mention both parties here
I agree that we are not a real competitive team right now, but that is what a club like Inter should be. And one of the major parts if me not trusting Mazzarri is that the project to transition the team back into something good is to incorporate young players to the team and create a core for the future and it seems to me like that will never happen with Mazzarri. I’m afraid we will spend a lot of money on players that aren’t that good for us.
And Fabio, thanks for thinking I’m a dick for expressing my oppinion. What does that make you then…?
But we played good and created chances. It was very good don’t be a dick.
Dont be like that, he was just expressing his idea
I think we successfully closed down most of fiorentina’s attack especially their wings. that’s why fiorentina seemed to play below par. look at how nagatomo made cuadrado a bit frustrated which resulted in an injury that absolutely decreased fiorentina’s lethal attack. .. see how impressive joaquin when beating juve? he was too being marked so tightly that he couldn’t do what figo (his favorite player) do. come on dude….our lads deserved the credit today…what the players need is to keep motivated and determined.

i should be the one to ask you not get carried away. the past three months? how about the previous three months. and really, what kind of supporter are you? cause i don’t see you doing anything supportive right now. we’re going back on the right track and there are so much positive things to note. what do you expect? this team going all the way to be a scudetto challenger right away after what happened previously? they rightly deserve the credit and that’s all for their hard work, intensity and passion for the team. fio just had a bad game? then why can’t you say the same when inter did?
we’re pretty lucky in the goal i agree, but we also had some unlucky events in the previous months but you didn’t even mention it. and i’m wondering are you really following serie a? sassuolo is a mediocre yes that is but fiore? they are on their fire for the past couple weeks and they are above us in the table if you didn’t notice.
seriously, i’m fed up with a whiner kind like you. i’m fed up since last year and even more fed up this year seeing a bunch of people who thinks they know everything telling that changing the coach will do the team better. THIS IS REAL LIFE NOT A FOOTBALL MANAGER
Seriously? Youre calling the florence team mediocre? Now thats gross, if they are mediocre than what are we? They are prepared well way better than us and cant you see how fast they speed is? Its safe to say that they are the fastest team on the league, and they are being considered as a contender in 3rd, now where are we? big 5 are good enough for Inter, if we can reach 3rd then its a miracle.
Just wanna say that we shoud be grateful with this good period after such an ugly months, and im not saying im impressed with Mazzarri, but I do believe that he is our best option for now, at least till the end of this season.
