Torino’s Alexander Farnerud was helpless in trying to prevent Inter from taking all 3 points at the San Siro today and the Swedish midfielder conceded that Inter were the better team when SempreInter.com interviewed him exclusively after the match.

What are your thoughts on today’s match?

“It’s a difficult fixture, away at the San Siro against Inter. I think we defended well, we played poorly in the first half but played better in the second half. They score a lucky goal to put it that way, but they were the better team.”

What about your own performance?

“It’s difficult to say, I mean we lose 1-0 and I played in a different position as to what I’m used to as I played as a full-back in a 3-5-2. It felt ok but it was a heavy defeat.”

Things have gone well so far this season for you personally as well as the team. Is the main objective still to avoid relegation or have you set your sights higher?

“No, our main objective is still definitely to stay up, I mean if we were to take any bonus points then that would be great as we have some very difficult matches ahead so we’ll see what happens but we ‘ll take it one match at a time.”

Many voices have been raised in Swedish media about how you should be in the Swedish National team squad. What are your thoughts on that?

“I think that I should be given a chance, although things haven’t been so great these past few matches but I still think I should be given a chance to show what I can do for the national team.”

Have you spoken recently to the national team coach? Do you have any idea as to how close you are to being selected?

“No, I haven’t spoken to them. I don’t know.”
