After two days rest, the Nerazzurri will return to work this afternoon at Appiano Gentile. Coach Walter Mazzarri is waiting on the test results for both Ricky Alvarez and Yuto Nagatomo to determine the extent of their respective injuries. Regardless of this Gazzetta dello Sport believe that Inter will be unchanged for Sunday’s clash with Atalanta at the San Siro. Andrea Ranocchia has been impressive enough in his last two starts to retain the shirt he hadn’t worn in the league since January 6th. Another consequence will be that Danilo D’Ambrosio will get another shot to impress Mazzarri on the left hand side.

Agree… Give Kovacic a chance. I don’t understand why Mazzarri choose Guarin instead Kovacic. I’m tired of watching him loosing ball and shoot brutally without any accuracy.
Keep playing Ranocchia, Rolando, D’Ambrosio, Kovacic, Icardi! They will do really well in the remaining matches.
agree with you bro…
Ranocchia doing great in 2 previous match, Rolando already our best defender, Icardi not really special but way better than Milito.
D’Ambrosio deffinetly not better than Nagatomo, his best chance is waiting for Jono to screw up.
Guarin has been poor but based on whoscored, statistically he’s doing fine. look at our peformance against Torino. Change Guarin to Kovacic put more weight to Cambiasso and make inter more vulnerable. So i think Kovacic would remain as a subs, he will enter if opponents is no longer a threat or we’re desperately looking for goals.
Kova from the start please, he played very well at the last game even from the second half
never changeeee but prefer kova over guarin to start
agree
The sad thing is that Kovacic is not good in his defensive work and if Inter is going to play like Mazzarri wants then Kovacic is not good for the balance for Inter. Thats why he don’t play and why Guarin is playing. Guarin is much better in his defensive work and give Mazzarri good balance in the middle.
If Kovacic is going to play inter need to have a clean playmaker role fore him behind the strikers.
Dont hate me because I’m typing this.
I love Kovacic and i also want him to play from the start too!
Let me remind you that kovacic is naturally an attacking midfielder or winger. His main task is to deliver the ball and assist the strikers, not fuking around with the defensive tasks. In fact, from the last two games he did a great job when he came in as substitute and surprisingly the attacking flow was much better with him on the field to help hernanes setup the play. Why did people kept blaming his lack of defensive skills? We bought him because he can dance and dribble, not sit and rush as a bull. No doubt, it is mazzari’s stubborn tactics which kill talents like Kovacic and Botta.
Yes i know thats why i said Inter need to play with a clean play maker position for Kovacic. And i said he is not good for the balance in Mazzarris way to play because there is no clean play maker role in his system!! And if Kovacic is going to play for Guarin he need to get better in defense because Guarins and Hernanes positions is more like a CM role.
In conclusion, we would lose Kovacic next year if Mazzari stayed with Inter next season. Nothing wrong with Kovacic, but I do agree that Kovacic and Botta attacking talents are not suitable and needed within Mazzari stubborn 3-5-2 system. I’m afraid we could lose both of them next season, darn.. yet another Coutinho and Pirlo’s case will happen once again.
First of all, winger isn’t his natural post, it is Mazzarri who put him there. CM is his natural post, but he has talent to become a regista like Pirlo or Arteta when he played in everton too. Unlike a volante as Cambiasso or a classic pure DM which is rare to found nowadays, a regista didn’t need to have great physical or superb defensive skill. Besides their creativity and accurate pass, vision of the game and reaction are their main weapon, with great vision you’ll know how the game is flowing and you can take a few steps ahead of the opponents to stop them at the right time without having high defensive skills needed.
The problem is, vision and reaction in defense department are so hard to get for midfielders, they needed years of experiences to gain the thing. But just compare young Pirlo or Xavi when they’re at the same age as Kovacic today, they’re not even half of him! Too sad to be true, 3-5-2 isn’t very friendly if you want to start to “learn” how to defense as a regista, if only we play with double pivot with him and Cambiasso as his mentor, i dare to bet that he’ll develop very well. As for now a CM is the best post he can play well, but with Hernanes there and Mazzarri’s baby, Guarin it’ll be hard for Kovacic, I really am afraid to lose him.
good idea…
