Well known Gazzetta dello Sport columnist Pier Luigi Garlando has slammed Walter Mazzarri for wasting the talents of Mateo Kovacic. Whilst stating that skills such as those possessed by the Croation are rare, he also stipulates that it can’t be acceptable that a player like Kuzmanovic keeps Kovacic from playing. “Mazzarri has to look at the moon over the tip of his finger, the place in Europe is not all that matters. Saving his place on the bench can not be the only motivation, that which is beneficial to the club also deserves his attention, its future, the common interest.”
