After having scored a brace in Inter’s 4-0 win away against his former team Sampdoria, Mauro Icardi spoke exclusively with Inter Channel. Below you can read the whole interview in English.
A very important brace. The first one opened the match and last one closed it…
“They were both important together with Rodrigo and Walter’s goals which helped us to bring home the win.”
Two very different goals. What can you tell us about them?
“For the second one the ball was too long so I had to stop it first. I hit it and thought to myself we’ll see what happens.”
Today wasn’t an easy environment to play in?
“Coming back to Genova was very nice. I don’t care about the boo’s and jeers, to come back to the place where it all began made me very happy.”
How difficult was it during your injury?
“I wasn’t expecting to come back like this. I suffered due to my groin, even now I still feel pain.”
In the beginning of the season you said that you didn’t have a target to score a certain amount of goals. Do you think you could beat last seasons tally?
“If the goals come then that’s good, other than that the most important thing is the team. I want to du well in these last few matches.”
How important is it to play with Palacio?
“This is not the first time I’ve been asked that. Playing with him makes my job easier, surely playing with someone as mobile as him is a very important thing. The second goal was really his goal.”
