After having led Inter to a 4-1 win against Lazio in the final Serie A fixture of the season at the San Siro, Mateo Kovacic spoke exclusively with SempreInter.com.

“We played a very good game, we are happy for our captain and our fans so we’re happy that it went well” Kovacic said after a fantastic performance where he assisted 3 of Inter’s 4 goals. The young Croatian magician however didn’t wish to focus on himself but instead took time to pay tribute to Inter skipper Javier Zanetti who played his last fixture at the San Siro last night, as well as ell the other treble heroes he’s played with.

“He’s really an example, he’s said so many good things to me. I’m happy that I have shared one part of my career with such players like him, Milito, Samuel and Cambiasso. All of them have said so many good things to me and I’m very happy that I’ve played with them.”

Finally when asked about why he thinks he has been playing so well these past few matches, Kovacic chose to demonstrate humility stating that “I don’t know, I really don’t like to talk so much about myself. All I can say is that when I wasn’t playing I trained really well and did a good job so I’m really happy to be playing. I must do good things whenever I play, so I’m very happy.”
