After having watched his Inter lose in the last fixture of the season, Walter Mazzarri spoke with Sky Sports to give his thoughts.
“The coach of a team has to always give his all for the club he works for. Today we gave the chance, rightly so, to those who have suffered on the bench, since we had already reached our objective. If we need many more players to be able to compete on all fronts? I will talk about this with the club and even in these matches you see personality and several other things But from this match today not too much information can be gathered.”
Cambiasso also leaves now, a comment on that?
“For me he was a starting player, he’s had a great season. The rest is the clubs decision as Ausilio explained yeserday. The fact that I always played him speaks volumes as to how high a regard I hold him, I won’t say anything more than that.”
What can you say about your future?
“It’s correct that during the season a coach doesn’t say anything. You can speak about everything at the end of the year, with many things that can be said more serene. But I’ve never been a coach who hunts for contracts. When you begin a working relationship, it has to begin with great enthusiasm, contracts aside, as was the case at Napoli. You have to be clear on everything in order to be able to start things off with enthusiasm. This is the case for all coaches. The contract is the last thing I’m concerned about right now, but I want to have a good conversation with the club after a year that was very special. You have to meet, speak and then calmly restart things with great enthusiasm.”
What needs to be done so that next year isn’t special in the way this year was?
“Thohir has been very clear. It was the end of a cycle, you can see this from the facts. I’ve had exemplary professionals but it’s clear that when your contract is expiring you unconsciously think about many other things. It’s not easy, even for the youngsters. It’s been a positive year if you consider everything and if you remember where we were when we started. It’s easy to forget everything. Even if I had the contract, it wouldn’t change anything. I have already been in this situation at Napoli and we had a fantastic season.”

Inter who only had the league to play this season finished only 3 points ahead of Milan who had a disastrous season and who played in Champions League and changed coach. Hellas Verona, a newcomer in Serie A won more games than Inter. With the players WM had at his disposal Inter shouldnt be competing with Parma and Torino for a place in EL. WM has failed big time and deserves to go. Next year will be much more difficult with both EL and Serie A. With this coach we can maximum get the 3rd place in a couple of seasons.
Don’t care, we finish above all of the team you mentioned there.
This is a coach who never win scudetto. We need winners like Simeone of Mourinho. My opinion Simeone is our man, motivator that he is
from thohir’s statement I saw on a live match, he indicate that we will use 4 def formation.. he only mention vidic and juan as a cb.. he also said that we need an agresive dm with good tackle and defending ability.. in front, he said that palacio and icardi will be first choice.. only need a dependable subs for them in case of injury or suspension as he was not convinced enough by botta.. well, I might be wrong though
just give him a fertile striker, 2 wing payers that can provide good crossing, u all can see how suck jonni and d’ambrosio crossing are, never found the target, only naga sometime provide good crossing, and one holding midfldr, a strong, agresive and good in tackling to balanced kovacic and hernanes. if this happen we will se stronger inter that can fight for scudetto and EL..
i know mazzari had his mistake in not played kovacic much from the beginning but u all should give him chance and dont act just like moratti that fired coach easly. im sure next season will be interisting.. i believe in tohir.. forza inter….
I believe you need to check the statistics again, the most accurate crossings came from Jonathan. Though they all suck, if we ever need a good winger he should be capable of being both defensive and offensive and they are all bad at this
I’m optimistic to some degree – he is a very good coach that needs the right players at his disposal.
If he stays, thohir must give him the players he says he needs otherwise he will says exactly same thing at the end of next season….give him his wingers and a 20 goal striker and let’s see what he will moan about next year….
Forget about formation as long as WM is the coach.
I have my doubts on WM but I think we should give him a chance next season.
Yes a special year of “F**k you!” This guy, THIS GUY!! He improved our league points by 3 compared to last year, with what should be a much better squad and somehow this was enough for European places. There’s is nothing to build on, if we start with him on the bench next season we can’t get ready for yet another year zero to come later on in the near future. Enough is enough, this is ridiculous.
So what coach do you have in mind? With better qualities of Mazzari and same low wage category?
Anybody else, bring in a freaking Serie D coach for all that matters.. If they really want to get back into the title race you gotta sacrifice some cash on someone worth building the club on. Can’t be too stingy. I’m no expert, but I can definitely say that Mazzarri should have no future in this club.
To be honest, i didn’t liked his playstyle either for the whole year.
But now i think it’s better to have him for another year.
Remember if we received that penalty luck, we would be probably third and had alot more convidence.
Next year we have better players and more experience.
I really think if we change coach we will kill us self.
Questioning about luck? no we can’t ask for luck when we play bad, indeed luck is a part of life, but when you play bad, doesn’t matter how many luck you had, it will never be enough for you.
As much as you want him out.. Inter wants to even extend his contract.. I guess u won’t be seeing inters matches next year. Loool..
haha I think your predictions need some work. Don’t go into sports journalism will u?
Inter don’t seem in a hurry to replace Mazzarri much as we might like it
This guy only improved your league points by 3 from last year….that’s it?? LMAO ! How is that possible if Strama played serie A and Europa league with half the team injured and only finished 3 points less than a healthy Inter that is actually better on paper than last year. How sad is that?
Then you have the Mazzarri records:
Inter is one of only 2 teams in Serie A not to score a goal from a free kick – ironically the other one was Chievo who beat inter on the last day of the season.
For the 2013/2014 Inter have a 0 % penalty kick conversion rate – with that kind of conversion Mazzarri should never complain about the refs not giving Inter PK’s because with a 0 % pk conversion you’ll never score on any of them anyways!
For the first time on over 10 years Inter played a game without registering a shot on goal.
For the first time in over 15 years Inter have not been capable of winning 3 games in a row.
Inter registered 2 points in the month of January 2014.
Now after reading all of that I have inter fans questions to ask:
# 1 – Do you think that Mazzarri is a better coach than Strama??
# 2 – Do you think that Mazzarri deserves a contract extension ??
I still believe this coach despite some failures he had done with Inter. I expect a good market activity from Inter and formation of a good, stable squad next year.
I expect all the Napoli deadwood to find it’s way to Inter and the only formation of anything for Inter will be 3-5-2 . Get ready for another season of fighting with provincial teams like Torino and Parma
