Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning on the role that retired captain Javier Zanetti will be given within Erick Thohir’s Inter. It is thought the announcement will come at a ceremony to retire the legendary captain’s number 4 jersey in July (Before Pinzolo). Current thinking is that Zanetti will take a role as vice-president of operations. Whilst remaining close to the team Zanetti could play a large role internationally and maybe even represent Inter at UEFA. This would see the Nerazzurri legend follow in the footsteps of Giacinto Facchetti who undertook similar work within the club. Zanetti will continue to be a presence in Appiano Gentile and will accompany Inter on their U.S. tour but his role will be on a larger scale than simply being close to his former team mates.
