The Serie A and B will officially adopt the use of the “vanishing spray” that was used by referees in during the World Cup in Brazil. Lega Serie A President, Maurizio Beretta, said that the motion was ratified and the Serie A will now be adopting the technology. However, he also indicated that the foam may appear different than the one used in the World Cup. The spray is carried by referees in a holster around the waist and is used in order to ensure players in the wall respect the correct distance on free kicks. Moreover, it marks where the referee places the ball so that players may not move it forward. The technology is also set to be used in the Champions League.
