Mauro Icardi scored two important penalties yesterday in the win against Real Madrid, the first one in regular time and then the decisive spot-kick to take the victory.
Here is what he had to say to Sky about the game: “It was the penalty that would win us the game if I scored, it was a last second decision, you could see where the goalkeeper was heading. I chose to kick it like that and it went well.”
He lamented the field conditions: “The pitch was a bit bad, as you could see, but it was needed in order to continue to grow physically, which is exactly what we are doing. We all want to win, but you need to be prepared to succeed. In the beginning of the match we were a bit static and unsure of how to move, then we found the rhythm of the game and got used to the pitch. We pressed higher up the field, and that’s when the penalty was conceded which allowed us to level the score. And in the end, we won the game.”
