“Despite 3-0, the match was more difficult than the result would make you think. Perhaps we wouldn’t have obtained such a victory away if we hadn’t found the goal at the end of the first half.” That’s what Inter coach Walter Mazzarri said to Icelandic press after the success in the first leg of the Europa League playoff against Stjarnan.
“After 2-0 we relaxed a bit. It surprised me how Stjarnan reacted. We must remember that we can not relax until the game ends. At the break I was satisfied, but I told the guys to get back on the pitch thinking that it was still 0-0. The return leg? I hope to see many fans because it will be our first home game of the season.”
A comment on some individual players on the opposing team: “I liked number 7 and number 17 (Atli Johannsson and Ólafur Karl Finsen, ed.) They could do well in many large European teams.”
