Both Freddy Guarin and Ricardo Alvarez are players that Inter have looked to cash in on this summer. Recently there were reports of contact from Zenit St. Petersburg for the Colombian midfielder; however, they were merely initial surveys. The Russian club did not believe they needed a new midfielder. Nevertheless, the Russian club has now qualified for the Champions League at the expense of Standard Liege, which could change the cards on the table and fuel a new interest in Guarin.
