Guys, this is worrisome. I don’t think we’re signing any big name now. No Shaqiri, no Lavezzi, no Cerci, no Biabiany = no speed. We couldn’t land a single one of these. As well, have you noticed the lack of lefty players that we have? We loaned Botta and Ricky, who happen to be our only dribblers and don’t say Dodo, ’cause the guy is originally a left-back. Kovacic and Hernanes are our creative players and we have no subs because Taider is going to Sassuolo and Guarín wants out (even if he stays, he’ll play with no motivation). We’re stacked at CDM: Medel, M’Vila, Kuzmanovic, Khrin. We only have 3 strikers: Osvaldo, Icardi who basically play the same way and Palacio, who can play behind, and we will have to rely on Rodrigo a lot but he’s over 30 already. This team is lacking very little to be capable of qualifying for the CL beyond excuses for our beloved WM.
Give everything you’ve got to sign Lavezzi, make it a gamble and hope it pays off. Otherwise, we will probably be watching Kovacic, Icardi, JJ, Handanovic and the likes leave our club next season because the club “fails to live up to their ambitions”, and because they will probably get much better offers.
Give Mazzarri no space for excuses, do everything for Lavezzi and set the standards high up. With Lavezzi, I strongly believe we can surpass Napoli for 3rd. Don’t get me wrong, I also consider that Bonaventura would be a smarter signing…. But you can’t expect anything big from him right away! And a club like ours needs UCL football in order to attract players of the highest calibre! And of course to afford them.
That’s why signing Lavezzi would show our desire to be back in UCL and could pay for himself if we finish #3 and qualify to group stage.
If nothing spectacular happens today, I think we gonna buy in winter…
