Mauro Icardi is aiming for the national team. According to today’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s Argentinian bomber does not want to waste any time and after last season’s “part-time” appearance in the starting eleven, the target is to find continuity and goals. Icardi wants to cement his place as Mazzarri’s new “Edinson Cavani” in order to earn a place in the Argentina squad. The road towards la Selección starts on Sunday in the home game against Sassuolo. Maurito represented his country on one occasion last autumn, but was later excluded by Alejandro Sabella due to continuous fitness problems.
After a summer where several clubs showed interest for Icardi, Inter are looking to extend his contract before Christmas.
The Argentinian is currently earning 900 000 euros per season, scoring bonuses excluded, and will probably be looking to double his wage before signing the contract extension.

Cavani is a very mobile, utility striker, Icardi at the moment is a good finisher but nothing more. Hope he become an amazing player. Argentina National Team has very tough competition atm.
If he’s half as good as Cavani he’ll impress at inter with a player of kovaciic’s quality feeding him. (Kovacic will be way better than Hamsik) He’ll probably need to be better than cavani to cement his place in the argentine squad though considering there’s Aguero, (Higuain) and Messi in the forward line. And Lamela’s been sparkling for Spurs in preseason-he’ll probably replace Lavezzi/Palacio. Gaitan’s got a shot in the playmaking department too. Plus I want to see what Correa can do at Atletico-could be interesting basically icardi’s got lots of competition; hope he makes it 🙂
Just raise his salary to 2.5m per season, plus bonuses depending on the number of goals that he scores.
If he managed to hit double-digits only
