It’s entirely possible we may not have seen the last of Portuguese International Rolando in a Nerazzurri shirt. Piero Ausilio & co haven’t forgotten about the defender who was such a success in Serie A last season. Inter’s most consistent defender in Walter Mazzarri’s first year as coach now finds himself frozen out at Porto after rejecting a number of moves towards the end of the summer transfer period. He waited for the entire mercato for the two clubs to agree a fee but ultimately the Portuguese side asked for an unreasonable sum. Despite the disappointment for both Rolando and Mazzarri there could be a reunion in the not too distant future. With a contract which expires in June 2015 it’s entirely plausible that the player will complete a free transfer to the Nerazzurri once the negotiating period begins in the New Year. Before that situation arises however it seems certain that Inter will explore the possibility of acquiring the player for the second half of the season.

Hugo Campagnaro will likely be the defender who will have to make way. He has a contract which also expires next summer and so the futures of these two defenders appear entwined. It seems logical that should Inter find a taker for the Argentinian, Rolando will take his place at Appiano Gentile. A final note to all this is that Walter Mazzarri (according to various reports) has kept in close contact with the player. Rolando’s future could still be in Black and Blue…..
