Gazzetta dello sport writes about Gary Medel in today’s edition of the newspaper. Gazzetta dello sport writes about an interesting anecdote that has to do with Inter’s honorary president Massimo Moratti who was the first one to fall in love with Medel’s sporting skills. It couldn’t be different for a man who loved warriors like Ince and Simeone, and whilst watching Chile’s games during the World Cup this year Moratti told his children that he would’ve bought Medel straight away if he was still the only owner of the club. Just a few days after Erick Thohir called Moratti to tell him that Inter was hunting Medel.

CasperV I agree with each and every single word you said, Moratti treated inter like a toy. Inter was before Moratti, and will be after. I started rooting for Inter because of the colors. And I also remember Inter teams before Maratti
Wow, an Interista talking shit about Moratti…
What’s next? “Javier Zanetti was a bad player because he didn’t score enough goals?”
CasperV…..i think you need to talk less and do more research….Moratti is the legend, i wouldn’t be inter fan if it’s not for his work. He has a great love for the club….i don’t know about you, if you keep complaining all these years.
As much as Moratti are guilty to Inter, he is giving his very best to the club. Though his way of showing his love are wrong and leading us to destruction, a love is still a love and he deserved some respect for that love.
no one like Massimo Moratti
chil dude.
Lets hope, Erick Thohir brings healthy financial to our inter.
Yes I hope so my friend, just pissed of for us needing to be fighting for 3. now a days!
Yes, Thohir at least seems like a man with a plan!
Bla bla bla don’t care what that old full says! He’s to blame for us been in rdd with minus 90 mil euro!!! He ran the club in 19 years and won a handfull of scudetti (because everyone elsa was in serie b or had huge point-redusements and one CL won…
But what did he do to make Inter self-suficient? nothing! He didn’t spend any of his billions on a new stadion, did nothing to sell our brand world wide even after the CL triumfe!
And when the club needed him the most what did he do then? He sold the club and, covered his own debts and left a sinking ship! SHAME ON HIM!! (and yes, I’m old enough to remember Inter BEFORE this olie-barone arrieved)
I mean just imagine if he had tried to make us self-sustainable we would be top of the world in Serie A now qua the economic situation in Italy! I mean now we have been overtaken by Roma(!!) and Juve who actually spend one whole year in F++++ Serie B and lost almost all their stars!!!
He had 19 years to make us strong enough to stand on our now feet but he left us actually rolling around on the floor almost knocked out!!
Without Moratti we would be in Serie B! A legend.
What a fullish statement! 18 years he had Inter, spending more than 1.5 billion on players and what did he win?? 5 scudetti (when Juve where in serie B and everyone else punished) 4 Coppa and only 1 Eufa Cup and 1 CL!!! And Inter is in 300 billion debt no! Thanks for nothing Moratti!
We won 5 scudetti while Jube is in Serie B? Wow, I didn’t realize that Jube spent 5 years in Serie B 😉
Without Moratti i probably support another team lol…..
Have some respect for the man whose family has given everything to the club. He’s gone now, so it’s up to Thohir to take care of things.
You are of course right to criticize him, but saying he has done nothing but “win a handful od Scudetti” is crazy.
Ungrateful idiots.
Ungrateful?? What is there to be greateful for? 5 scudetti in 18 years is pretty bad my friend especially considered the amount of money he spend on players and coaches! (Look at the results made by Chelski since Abrahamovic came in).
I loved the man bag in the days – really – but after the ´10 trible, where I read that he needed to cover our debts again despite just wining everything, I started realizing something was very wrong! And today we all know how bad he ran the club financially!
The only reason for him to by the club is because of his “father-complex”! He NEEDED to do what his dad did and even do better than him, but when the club really started “bleeding” and needed him the most, he did everything possible to get out – of cause he started by selling his companies shares in the club to some russians, and THEN he sold his own shares to Thohir!
I have all the faith and in the world that Thohir will turn our club around – a club that for 18 years under Moratti was nothing than a laughing stock in Europe because of the billions spend on players but no results to show for them!
Oh yeah – I’m really ungrateful for the fact that we – now a days – need to fight, not for the scudetto, but for 3. place in the league – THAT is what I’m ungrateful for and that is what I blame the former management of the club (read; MORATTI the solo owner) for!!!!
I agree with you , Massimo Moratti is a legend…
i can understand how you or other interisti upset about him. but let’s straighten things up. he did everything that he had done before, those millions of money, those are for the prestige of this club. he did it in the name of his love for the club.
first of all about the scudetti, you did know how terrible the league was (or even is) don’t you? if everything was on fair play, i’m sure zanetti wouldn’t even need to wait until 2005 for his first scudetto. if we won those titles then it would sell the inter brand around the world in it self.
second, stadium, as far as i know and i had red it somewhere, he already tried for the stadium. he already planned about it but he lacked 2 things, money and the permission from the authorities.
third about leaving a sinking ship. instead if he kept the club he’ll made it sink. he wasn’t leaving a sinking ship but he gives the captain’s role to someone who he knew can stabilize the ship and take it to it’s new journey because moratti knew that he himself couldn’t do that. his other company already had it’s hard time and it would just ruin inter if he egoistically kept the club in his hand. again, he did that because of his love to this club.
then again, i wouldn’t say that he is a super owner. he had his flaws. one of it was instead his love to the club and all it’s people inside. he was an old school owner running the club in his old school ways while other club had started to adapt with the more modern business ways. and the ffp wasn’t help him either. though i do agree he should had seen it coming and prepare a plan for it. but as i said earlier, he was too in love with this club that made him blind about how he should had run the club and adapt it to a more business ways instead of keep it like this was his personal girlfriend.
i don’t like him for some of his poor decision, but hated him and saying that he did nothing but win a few scudetti is a bold and tends to be a stupid statement
