Sardinian side Cagliari arrived at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza today with only one point so far this Serie A-campaign. A score board that is not a fair reflection of Cagliari as a team, especially with players like Marco Sau in the team, who has always been a very good player in my eyes. But, Marco Sau is not Messi, Victor Ibarbo is not Cristiano Ronaldo, and Albin Ekdal is most certainly not our lord Jesus Christ…So why the hell does the result look like we walked into the German National team with David Luiz as our top guy in defense?
I can tell you why. It’s not because of the team that is Cagliari, please. It’s not because of bad luck or because of unfair calls from the referee. We have no excuses. Today’s defeat is our own fault. Everywhere and everyone from attack to defense to goalkeeper to coaching-team to the leaderboard. I’m sorry to be the one to complain and moan about quality. But I’ve pretty much had it. Our Captain of this afternoon, which is bad enough, Yuto Nagatomo is not good enough. If you want to be a team aspiring to reach the Champions League, Nagatomo can’t be a part of that team. The reason is simple; he is not good enough. His cross-balls makes me want to lie down in my shower in fetal position and cry and that’s not even mentioning his game in defense which is nothing but a hazard for the whole team. But this was also the day that every single player chose to leave their ball-sack at home. We can spend all night blaming individual players, but it does not serve a purpose. We can blame every single one. It does not serve a purpose.
What really burns me up is to see the poor performances from Nemanja Vidic, game after game after game. I’ve had dreams of seeing Vidic in the Inter-shirt since way back and now that it all becomes reality, it stands clear that this might not be the kind of boost to the team as we had hoped for. Yet, I don’t want to point fingers towards Vidic just yet. The defense has looked pretty much the same under Walter Mazzarri since his first day, wheter it’s Vidic, Samuel, Campagnaro, Rolando or Ranocchia playing. It’s not good enough and I’ll stick my chin out. I blame Mazzarri, a coach who can’t organize a defensive line with pretty much the same players in two years, something is not right. My faith in Mazzarri has never been the largest and seeing this kind of meltdowns happening every now and then, does not increase the feeling of peace. We’ve not lost like this with four goals since 1960 and that was against AC Milan. This is unacceptable.
Maybe the team deserves this kind of failure and the humiliation. With this sort of effort from the team, I’m sure they do. But we, the fans, does not deserve this. Our love is the payment for the players to respect the shirt with pride and to stand up for what Inter is. Today you have disrespected us. Take the shirts off.
Let’s put this into perspective:
1-Another loss against a last place team…..it’s not the first time, do you remember losing to Novarra a few years ago ?
2-Inter has yet to win 3 games in a row under Mazzarri – maybe it’s an Inter thing?
3-Inter has missed every penalty shot with Mazzarri as coach? gee….maybe Mazzarri can’t be bothered to practice PK’s because they never play with the ball on the ground in the 18 yard box to get tripped. Maybe nobody that’s taken a PK for Mazzarri has been in his 20’s ?
4-FIVE inter players were lined up in the box and they all stood there to watch Ekdal rush the box and score.
but most Important….VIDIC IS WASHED UP !! that’s why he was available for free
This loss is Inter’s fault. Nagatomo had a hand in this loss but this team looked cocky and they paid for it.
GOOD WORK MAZZARRI !!!!!
We need a change of tactics, coach and some starting players . those that are too casual should warm the bench till ‘God know when’ they will get another opportunity . the humiliation is unbearable ! #WMOUT
Nagatomo is by far our best wide player. He is being utilized incorrectly by Mazzari, but he offers plenty of pace, attacking drive and his crossing, whilst poor this year, is usually good.
Reactionary and emotional response = Shit article.
I can’t believe how some people here are saying that we concede only a single goal before tonight. What teams do we fight before? No big teams yet, and against those “weak” teams even though we concede a little, the defense sre still pretty shaky, nothing to brag for. We’ll see what will happens when we fight fellow big teams. It’s interesting to wait what will be the faith of Mazzarri LoL
Fact is after well over a year building & preparing his team he still has not been able to get Inter to play fluid attacking football. In nearly every game we turn up in the second half after defending out the first. Sacking him & replacing him with Mancini is our only realistic option & I would jump at it but Thohir will not sack a manager during a season unless it is forced.
I really missed JZ4 this afternoon.. After all messy things happened on the pitch because inter lack of leadership on the team. Mazzarri is definitely not the right coach who has the ability to lead and motivate his players. Please don’t compare him with Jose Mourinho, it would be an insult to mou. And even I consider Strama is much better that WM, look at his Udinese now. Vidic? C’mon, he is a newcomer in serie-a and he barely speaks italian. Nagatomo? Should be sold long time ago, a fullback who cannot defend at all. He is just like a ticking bomb that can explode anytime, and then mazzari gave him the captain armband to him. The defense looks shaky and clueless without a coach and a captain who know the shits on leading people and giving the right orders.
actually our problem this season is none other than our defence always the same every year. i dont want to blame only one player or two or three like the article above. if our defence so shacking every matches we are not going to win it all so we need a strongest defend every matches and this is what mazzari need to improve first. forget about attacking.
I’ve been saying this for a year…
In the word of R.Benitez – Inter wasn’t ready in today’s match. This is down to the manager’s preparation of the team. In the past I think I do know that JM doesn’t rest when he got home, instead he became an architecture and draw out his plans and ideas, he takes these to his next training session or on match day, and ofcourse you need good players or intelligent players to understand what the managers ask for. The managers also have to do a little home work on the next opponent so he can be sure to have an effect on match day with his ideas. Personally, I think Pellegrini of MC (UK) is the best (for domestic league, not yet in CL) club manager in the world, even JM envy him (hence mind game of the field between the 2), the reason is because when whenever he made a substitute he changes the course/result of the game – this shows his ability on reading the game, but he’s 62 yrs old, so not for Inter. But I like what I see at Ajax & Southampton in R.Deboer & R.Koeman. I’m also confused who we should hired as coach if we DO get to CL stage in the coming season, but I DO know that if we do think we can win the CL – WM is NOT our man to lead to us to it. WHY? because his ideas/preparations/style of play/substitutions/leadership/etc… is NOT good enough for Inter! Also, his favourite players, in like of Jona/Nag/Dodo/Kuz/Guarin/may be more (we don’t know?) is FANS worst of the pack!! Sorry I have stated Dodo, this because I came to realised he doesn’t have a RIGHT foot! everything he does is on his left foot, and he doesn’t have gutsy feeling of scoring goals. Naga – is NOT a leader and shouldn’t be made a vice capt, he doesn’t know how to read the game and his defense ability is to make a nuisance of himself on the attacking play of the opponent, this could be bad news for Inter ie, the Cagliari 1st goal, back pass of his head onto the striker to score. This is how I rate Inter’s players as leaders – Palacio/Medel/Vidic/ and may be Rano/JJ/Kovacic = people who can READ the game is a natural leader. If we want WM to continue as Inter’s future coach – he must made some sacrifices ie, stop being a nice guy and give some of the players the chop!! like those I stated above, and above all his ABILITIES must show on match days!! like those I also stated above. But in football time is short, and clubs as big as Inter or more, demands success when the right time comes!! Finally, I don’t think we have a small squad, like JM stated 2 for each position is adequate for any team = 25 players.
Thank you.
LOL if Mazzari make us to the CL. He would be our coach there. Even the hater knows that.
This where J.Zanetti must come in, for the voice of all Nerazzurri’s fans and to decide Inter’s future success.
I really think, you guys are making an storm in a tea cup… Okay, TERRIBLE LOST, but it’s just the beginning of the season. I’m DEFINETLY not defending Mazzari or the players ( once i’ve not seen the game, only at inter.it), anyway let’s just wait and see the consequences and how this result implies in the next games. One thing I’ve been wondering is, if Thohir sack Mazzari, would it be so disadvantageous, at point to affect the FFP imposed upon us ??
It’s not up to the defense or the players. The main fault is on Mazzari – the man of the bench. I’ve read one article from here or form another place, i can’t remember now. But the point is that, there was written “If Inter gets three points vs. Callgari, this will be new record of Mazzari with three consecutive wins, since he’s on charge” . So, this is ridiculous. This gay is here, from 1,5 years and his team is not capable to win three games in a row? There is nothing to say…. just fu** off Mazzari
This is the second game we lost posession against weaker team. In the match vs sassuolo we showed determination and chase the ball like hungry, the stirkers and attacking mid contribute to defense as well.. in recent match, they didnt do that. Firstly, attacking players seems rely on medel too much and when medel plays bad, this is what happened. Secondly, as i always said, they were tired to play every 4 days. It makes easier for opposition to build play and giving them space to create chances. If you look the play of juve and rome, they always apply high pressure and every players contribute in defense in every match because they rotate all the players.
Mazzarri needs to rotate the players. Last year we were begging him to play Kovacic, and this year it’s opposite. He needs to give him the rest. Vidic at 32 can NOT play 3 days a week, that affects his performance. and Dodo can NOT play as Left back. Roma was not that dumb losing him for cheap, he simply didn’t work in their 4 defensive man system.
I was the one of the first Mazzarri’s critics from the beginning, but now it’s not the time to change. give him one last chance to take us to CL until the end of the season.
He rest Rano, Icardi, Guarin, Jonathan / Ambrosio
He didn’t rest Icardi, he was injured because of the knock in Atalanta’s game. As for Jonathan, he is not a starter anymore. Same goes with Guarin.
Guarin clearly ahead of Hernanes now. Icardi played today. We have 3 player on the right and all of them are mediocre, im not even sure who’s the starter.
Regarding dodo, even rudi garcia conveyed that dodo plays his true position at inter as wing back in 352 scheme. And i think that was one of the reasons WM took him for 3 defense, not as left back in 4 defense.
And i agree on the urgency to rotate players.
After Nagatamo was sent off we switched to 4 man defense. Mazzari needed to make the change right away and brought D’Ambro for Dodo.
he already rotate his players. but too bad he doesn’t have the luxury of an equal quality from his team
He needed to give Medel and Vidic a rest, and for Medel’s case he surely had depth with M’Villa at his disposal. Medel was the worst player on the pitch today.
And yap that’s what i regret why he decided to force medel to play instead of letting him rest and give the post to mvila which almost share the same quality as medel.
First of all, i do agree that our team played very poorly tonight, and I do agree that WM didn’t have the right answer to zeman’s tactic. and second of all, i am not trying to be a smartass or what, but from what i know, being a fan mean i am always behind my team whatever the circumstances is. To say take the shirt off to the players is too disrespectful. I am sure we are more classy than that. This is just start of the season, to blaspheme the player just now won’t really getting us anywhere.
Our defense hasn’t been solid, it was shaky in almost every match. But we have a good keeper, the defenders are capable in 1on1 situations, and we didn’t have to defend so much when we were pressing. But when we have to deal in situations where the opposing team actually plays the ball into the box and then passes around in it, we can see the holes gaping. No one knew where to stand today. At all!
That’s it. Pressure. The players didnt give pressure enough because they were tired. Off-ball movement was chaotic. Everybody was walking when he has no ball. I sensed it in atalanta match, the leg begin to weight.. and this is what i am afraid of in this match. And it proven, moreover the red card and confused have made us suffer. Just look at juve and rome they rotate all the players not just some of them. Our squad is not ready to play for 3 tournaments.
Out of all match of inter this season, inter has always showed good and solid defense with 3 defense and I believe that. We were actually begin to find our rythm on defense. This match was all because of the players were tired, lost focus and confused it shifted to 4 defense.
I wonder what clause did Thohir include on WM renewal
Lack of creativity and lack of motivation. Like every other game. Just this time the opposing team scored their chances. Mazzarri will blame the ref again, but after this game nothing he ever does with the team will ever convince me that he’s the right coach for us.
Seriously, Mazzari organized the defence very well this season. before this we’re only conceded one goal in serie-a and that’s because an obvious mistake. They’re not playing like themself today, Nagatomo make it worse and Mazzari not helping either (by taking too much time to make subs). Its a whole team mistake.
They were tired, even medel was look tired.
Are you serious? We conceded 1 goal before but against which teams?
They were tired, even medel looked out of energy.
No it’s not just this game first i want to remind u that we only played against weak teams and i remember that palermo almost score to many times and also atalanta has 3 to 4 clear chances to score we have luck and samir to thank for that match so don’t be fooled by the numbers our play is not organised and i want to that we have the best defenders in seria A jj .vid.ran.medel some very good players compared to other teams
Atalanta only have 2 shot on target and lots of attempt outside the box. Even when we lose grip at the midfield, the defend stay strong…
Regarding Mazzarri I think your conclusions are a bit premature. I agree today was a huge disappointment, but before today’s match we have let in just 1 goal in 5 matches.
oh here we go again. we were one of the best defensive record last year. and we were just conceded 1 goal before this game. but hell this is the right time to attack the coach. our defence are terrible they said. the coach couldn’t organize the defence they said. oh hell this is the best inter in terms of defence since mou’s era. but again let’s all drop the rational mind and just satisfy the urge to point our finger at the coach as we usually, oh sorry, let me correct that, ALWAYS do
actually bro, do you know Kosta Rika from the last world cup? or do you know how many people put their money on Atl Mad can make their way to UCL final? little or decent team can make a different with a great coach. or do you remember Mou get sack because RM cant get any title even they get super team?or LVG with massive spending this season but they still can get humilated by MK Dons or Leicester? so if the coach doesnt have any idea about his team, that make the team play like amateur because they do what the coach ask to do.
So the coach asked Nagatomo to kill the game by his redcard. Mazzari should be jailed for that. lol.
for that 2nd yellow card I still believe its a joke
costa rica? the team which used 3 at the back and shut those people who said 3 center back is a shit formation? o i remember them clearly. do you know a person in the name of diego costa? yes a great coach can make a difference. how much of them out there? and i wanna laugh reading what you are saying about mou and lvg. weren’t they are great coach? so why did a great coach like them couldn’t do anything? did lvg asked united’s players to lose heavily to dons? did lvg asked his players to give their lead to leicester? the answer is so damn obvious
I always believe we can use any formation, even in our club history we used 4-2-4 formation. one person I believe can make different on the pitch is Messi. Sabella tactics sucks. Messi keep making solo run and open opposition defence so the others can make a goal. and calm down mate, like I said, even a great coach if they cant motivate their player, cant give spesific instruction, etc, they still can get crush by any smaller teams. for me, today result because his poor choice of player and too late to making subs
and yet last year these people keep saying they wanted to see 4 at the back even though it was obvious that this team is in better shape with 3. motivation huh? take a 50 sprint up and down the field then let the best motivator in the world to motivate you and see if you still have enough energy left just to hear his motivation. which poor choice of player if i may ask? these players had played 5 times just in a 2 weeks period. rotation is inevitable. and yes i do agree he was late to take the subs. though seeing the roster we had i would had taken more time just to pick one
Costa Rica doesn’t play 3 at the back they play a 5-3-2
Well said mate. They disrespected us! Mazzarri looks have no creativity to change the mentality team and playing style. #ShameOnYouMazza
The biggest blame is for the coach, who is a dumb A**Hole. I do not understand at all why he likes to play Vidic, Nagatomo, Jonathan and even Kuzmanovic when they play so badly. In the end, I thought WM is a gay who likes to be fucked up by those useless guys. Sorry for this bad word, but I can’t stand this clown – WM. Defeating at home by 4-1 with Serie-A’s 20th team! What a shame, what a crap! What was a logic behind not playing captain Ranocchia? What was a reason of not relying on primavera talents (Bonazzoli etc)? What was a reason of only using 3-5-2 formation? Tell me WM! Otherwise, I will cut your throat!!!
You’re actually the a-hole here. Oh, and a moron. Rannochia didn’t play because he had been playing every 3-4 days for the past two weeks. There were actually a lot of starters today that shouldn’t have been playing. He actually switched to 4 back pretty early in the game and they still played like shi1t. Bonazzoli is 17 yr old kid, I don’t think he could’ve done better. Grow up “Delgado”, you sound like a whining b1tch
The payment of the players is the money itself I am afraid. And when you get millions a year, well that stops you from caring much for what you do. From now on, I will respect this players as they respect me as a fan, by showing results on the pitch.
