In yet another PR disaster for Italian football, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has apologised for telling Massimo Moratti to “Kick that Filipino out of Inter”. The Genoa club moved swiftly to apologise for the comments made on Rai’s Stadio Sprint but the damage appears to have been done. Ferrero insisted he was speaking out of respect for Moratti and meant no disrespect to Thohir or any member of the Nerazzurri’s entourage. As Gazzetta dello Sport has reported this morning, Thohir has chosen not to reply to the comments thus showing his disapproval. Italian football has been plagued by such gaffs which even saw the recently elected president of the FIGC refer to African footballers as “Banana eaters”.

What a disgrace.
Yes, Thohir, this is the type of racism that you supported by voting Tavecchio and failing to stand up to his words.
As I’ve stated before, you’ll be one of the first targets of the beast you fed.
lol that makes a lot of sense..one racist act by one bigot justifies another racist act by a completely different bigot. And its ET’s fault cause he voted for Tavecchio
Nowhere did I say anything is justified, but institutionalizing racism leads to it flourishing everywhere. Be careful when reading. Justified and connected are two different things.
As for Thohir, it’s oversimplifying to say it’s “his fault”, but yes, the rise of racism, as with many other social phenomena is also the fault of all those who fail to stand up to it. It was hypocritical on our side to have a “United against discrimination” campaign and vote for Tavecchio 2 days later under the circumstances. Being of a different “race” himself, Thohir could have expected someone to say this, maybe not a fellow president, but it’s not surprising to hear in Italy. It is why he should have acted when Juventus and Roma did.
“As I’ve stated before, you’ll be one of the first targets of the beast you fed” Man! you really need to get over the election of Tavecchio. The stupid comment from MF just prove that racism (or at least racist comments) is part of the culture there. Inter was not the only club to vote for him.
Aw, don’t give me that jazz!
As a fan of this club I am entitled to criticize such public behavior (to the immediately irrelevant effect that it causes). I know we’re not a political organization, but it goes against every foundation that this club was built on and leaves a stain on its reputation. I realize he was voted by a majority, but we are on an Inter forum, and as a lifelong fan of the club I am commenting on the new president’s actions. Accept it as “part of Italian culture” if you will, I’m saying it’s bad and it was scandalous, for us and all other clubs.
All right bro. I respect your passion about the issue.
