As reported elsewhere Matija Nastasic’s time at Manchester City appears to be drawing to a close. Despite being given plenty of chances with Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t view the former Viola man in the same light. Football365.com report that Inter are observing the situation and that a pricetag of £5 million wouldn’t scare the Nerazzurri away in January.

get him with 5 m and take schar on free transfer
I’d still like Trollando back.
That depends…
Rolando is very decent in a 3-man defense, which we will not be using anymore (well, probably). We don’t know if he would fit in with a 4-man defense.
On the other hand, Nastasic is a very bright player, and Mancini knows him from his days at City (besides, he would have little problems fitting in considering the fact that he’s also got Vidic, Kovacic and Kuzmanovic here as well – though I hope Kuzmanovic won’t be here for long 🙂 )
Then there’s also which target Inter will find most feasible. Nastasic @ 5 million pounds is a bargain, but if Rolando comes for 1.5 and Inter can keep the rest of the money to invest elsewhere, then Rolando it is.
It’s a decision that the directors and Mancio will have to take together. I guess it should be taken into consideration whether Inter want a player who is of sufficient quality to be a starter or only want emergency cover.
I wouldn’t mind either of them, though obviously Nastasic is the better player overall. He’s also 8 years younger.
Schar on the bosman and Rolando would be a good way to go. Rolando was a killer last season, he would definitely push Ranochia or Vidic out of CB.
There’s no guarantee for that, though. For all we know, Vidic could be reborn under Mancini. I highly doubt Ranocchia can be pushed out by anyone, as we’ve decided to give him the captaincy.
As for Schar + Rolando… I like Schar, but I wouldn’t go for both anyway, not without selling someone like Andreolli or Campagnaro first.
I’d leave most of the choice to Mancio, I trust he would know best as to who would fit in with his vision.
If someone have to play only because someone else made wrong decision to gave him capitan armband, we’ll look like amateur fools. Decisions about starting eleven must to depends based only about who’s in the best shape, everything else would be disaster.
We’ve looked like amateur fools before, it won’t be our first time 🙂
And lets get things straight, formally it will be that “the selection is being made according to performances”. But wouldn’t we also look like fools if we benched our captain or even worse if we changed the decision? The move wasn’t the smartest one we could make (we could’ve kept Cambiasso to be captain, at least in the dressing room, and I’d trust him to be better than Kuzmanovic at the age of 50!). The decision is made and we’ll look stupid one way or the other.
Cambiasso could be in a wheelchair and not be able to walk and still be better than Kuzmanoshit
last year zanetti was benched and many of you people complaining about how he did not make it to the first xi, now you are talking about who is in best shape. get real, ranocchia is our captain,no matter what. and it was not a decision that was made by the coach himself but also by other component in the club
I don’t know who are those many, but obviously i am not one of them. First of all i don’t know who’s decision is to made Ranocchia capitan, Mazzarri’s or the whole staff, but Mancini have all rights to change it. Second, i believe that this according me was wrong decision and it’s was made only convince Ranocchia to sign contract extension. Because there was a big thread to lose him as a free agent. Third, in my opinion capitan armband doesn’t have to be involved in the decisions about starting lineup, especially in our situation when we need immediately results, after bad start of the season. If first capitan can’t play, there’s second, third choices and i don’t see any drama here.
I think the decision to make Rano captain is not Mazzari call. The fact that Rano is only a subs until the late of last season, we already sign vidic for this season & under the impression of Inter bought full rights of Rolando there will be no place for Rano in the starting position. I don’t think Mazzari would give the captain armband to Ranocchia. But this Season Rano is actually quite impressive, in whoscored he’s on 3rd best in rating among the regular. If we’re going to play with 4 defender we only need 2 CB. We already have Rano, JJ, Andreolli, Vidic and Campagnaro. That’s plenty, i don’t think inter will go bought another CB.
yup mancini can change it all he want. but dude, you really underestimate the point of becoming a captain and how important it is to have one on that field. besides, rano has been one of the better performer this season, and i don’t think any other inter player had more influence on the team than him at the moment. not to mention it may also affect the team and the player himself to change the captaincy when the player had no real reason to be cut out of the captaincy. yet again, i will respect and support the coach’s decision who he’ll give the armband to and who he’ll choose to play on that field. and i hope you and any other interisti out there also do the same
I don’t want to argue with you or anybody else, because everybody have his own opinion. I don’t think that Ranocchia has been one of the better performer (for me Juan is much more consistent and Vidic will be much more better than Rano in back four). To me Handanovic have more influence and deserve more to be a capitan.
i would pick schar. rolando hasn’t been playing for about half a year so if we think he’ll be on a top gear already when he came here then that was a false assumptions. he’ll need another adaptations here. and i don’t think mancini will ever think about bringing him here. though i think he’ll be the last option available in case we couldn’t land any other target that we wanted
Yes, true, but I believe our best defender is Juan who should be at CB not LB, dodo can play at LB. I think it will come to Ranocchia vs Vidic for that last spot. Maybe Vidic gets the nod and plays well, but I just really feel bad for Rolando, he did well and was promised an inter contract and now was frozen out of Portos team due to it. I also think Nastasic for 5m would be a steal since we dont need any strikers, given, Palacio, Icardi, Osvaldo, Puscas and Bonnazolli, we should spend the minimum on defenders and focus on WING positions. Joel Campbell would be good, Podolski as well.
I’m hearing Mancini wants Gerrard which would be a waste cause of age, and our CM/CAM/CDM positions are pretty good with
Medel/M’vila/Hernanes/Kovacic/Guarin.
And LASTLY im hearing Sneijder to Milan, which would break my heart.
