In the last hours it has been reported in the British press that amidst interest from Chelsea, Inter striker Mauro Icardi may look to snub the London club. Instead, the player was said to be looking to fill the striker position at Liverpool. However, conflicting reports indicate that Liverpool has instead been in contact with Belgian and Everton striker, Kevin Mirallas. Regardless, Icardi’s name is echoing around during this January mercato.

I would only sell him for no less than 40 mil. If there is someone willing to pay that amount I certainly would sell. Then I would promote Puscas and Bonazzoli (though still very young, 18 & 19 I guess, correct me if I am wrong) but for one part of those 40 mil we can buy Lucas (from some Brasilian club, think Cruisero), Cerci, Konoplyanka for free at the end of the season, Montoya and Schaar. 40 mil would be reinvested for veeeery good and young players who could make an instant impact. In short, for mediocre Icardi (only good at finishing) we would have: Montoya, Schaar (defence), Lucas, Konoplyanka (middle), Cerci + Bonazzoli, Puscas (attack) for next season. I partly wrote here about entire transfer plan for June, not just about selling Icardi. Of course iz means we sell Kuzmanovic (2-3 mil.), DAmbrosio (5-8 mil) and Campagnaro is anyway on expiring contract
anything over 20 mil I would accept because believe it or not Osvaldo has been our best all around striker this season

Icardi is surely looking at his options, he cant be seeing much of a future at Inter at the moment. Inter need to make sure they get the right number for him though, say the 25 to 30 million area. If we do we can invest it in a couple of decent replacements and look to promote a Bonnazoli
Hey Sam, Mauro is an ESTABLISHED striker now. We suffered a lot to have him be as efficient as he is now.
You have mentioned to bring couple of replacement with the money generated from his departure. Let’s say we sell him 25m, and we want to bring 2 players for 12.5m each.
Name 2 possible candidates, can have an instant effect with that money??
Let’s say Lavezzi … Lavezzi will be useful for two seasons with his age, if we want to bring a younger player, it’s a risk. Because established young players worth at least 30m.

Personally I dont want to see him go. I think he has a lot to offer and has all the skills to be a world class striker. Problem is that we can only do so much to keep him. If a Champions League club come in for him and offer him the cash then it will be hard to keep his mind on the job. He seems like the type to get his head easily turned. I think 25 to 30 would be a the price range he fits into, he has not done enough to warrant more and we would be careful about taking less.
In regards with who to buy I see you point but we got Kovacic for about 12 so the players are out there. I think we could get Cerci for say 15 million. I would personally steer clear of Lavezzi as I see him more of a player who plays off other players and someone strong in the middle, something we dont have, he also will come with a high wage and no resale value. 15 million will get you some pretty good players. Lukaku was about that when he went to Chelsea, de Bruin cost I think 12 to Wolfsburg, Markovic went to Benfica for around 15 a season and a half ago. The players are there, we just need our scouts to get out there and identify them earlier!

All of the players you name are good players. But look at their price now?! How much Everton paid for Lakuku? How about Liverpool for Markovic?
My point is: when Chelsea got Lakuku or Benfica got Markovic, they were not proven to be good. They turned out good after. So it’s a risk factor here.
We got Kovacic and Icardi, and they turned out great, But at the same time we got Belfodil and Taider. So it’s 50-50!
Pure speculation. I don’t think that Icardi will snub Chelsea for Liverpool. At the moment Liverpool are terrible, they failed miserably in Champions League and probably next season won’t play in Europe. Miralas and Icardi are very different type of strikers and can’t be competition for each other.
But he wants more playing time that obviously he can achieve it in Liverpool more than Chelsea
Icardi is way too overrated. He lacks pace, vision, ball control, dribbling skills and his passing is bad. Bonazzoli and Puscas are the future of Inter. Sell him while we can get good money for him.
