Alessio Cerci who in recent weeks has been so heavily linked to Inter spent an extra day in Italy compared to his colleagues. Atletico coach Diego Simeone allowed the player a further 24 hours stay in his former home city of Turin. The rest of the team headed back to Spain after the Champions League clash with Juventus. At the match Cerci wasn’t even named in the squad and instead sat in the stands. He later dined at a local restaurant with former teammates. Also observing at Juventus Stadium were Inter’s two top scouts, it is possible contact could have been made with Cerci’s entourage but unlikely with Inter’s hierarchy in Azerbaijan.

Simeone is not happy that the Nerazzurri have approached the players agents first rather than going through the club. Arsenal have contacted Atletico directly for the player. As of now Atletico’s stance is firm and he will not move this January. If however the Spanish giants can acquire the Swiss international Shaqiri on loan from Bayern, all that could change.
