In the first half, Inter completed only one of 20 crosses, even while playing in a formation stressing the wings. In the second half with Kovacic as playmaker and thus more space on the wings for Nagatomo and D’Ambrosio, crossing accuracy improved. Five out of 19 crosses found Inter players, and shooting accuracy improved as well.
Author’s note: Raining crosses with minimal results. I really am done watching the crossing display from our wings… Everything from Nagatomo was too short and headed out, and everything from Guarin and D’Ambrosio seemed either sent for goal-kick or unlikely to be even at head-height for a garden gnome. I cannot wait to see what this mercato brings about.
There are 2 problems. First, the crosses suck. They are so so bad. And the second, even if the cross is good, who is going to compete for it? Palacio is a midget and Icardi is only okay-ish. Why would we play this is we have no really good crossers or target man like Toni/Pelle?
You are a genius man
A cross doesn’t need to hit someone in the face…
It’s also not meant to fall on the legs of the opposite team. Unless you think our crossing in the Lazio game and overall is good?
Not even close, more like the seen 10 year olds with better skills. My point was just that crossing doesnt necessarily have to be to tall, strong heading people, there’s many ways of crossing. Unfortunately none of our players have figured out this yet…
I agree with you to some extend, but there is a winning formula for crosses. If you have good crossers and a tall target man, playing the crossing game will benefit you much more. And we have none of that, so why is our main aspect of attack crossing? A hunter may have a rifle to hunt, but doesn’t force the same hunt tehnique if he is forced to use a bow. So why are we using a tactic that doesn’t make the most of our current squad?
