Here are the headlines regarding Inter in the front pages of Italy’s top sports papers:
Gazzetta dello Sport: Lavezzi to come. Inter-PSG lunch today in Marrakesh. There is an appointment between Fassone and Blanc. The dish is Pocho, who has not convened for call up in Morocco. The Podolski track is complicated but still open and watch for the Salah hypothesis.
Corriere dello Sport: Inter for Shaqiri and challenge PSG.
Tuttosport: Shaqiri – Lavezzi is also Juve-Inter. Thohir counterattacks for the Swiss, Juve push themselves into the rift between Pocho and PSG (who deals with Inter tonight). Mancini: “We turn to the stadium.”

Author’s note: I have no idea how we could compete with Juventus, or any other of Shaqiri’s suitors with our terrible financial situation, poor form, and lack of Champions League… Lavezzi however, I could see happening, especially in the summer, this deal has been a step away for years now.
Which headlines stick out to you?

I say all in for Shaqiri… Imagine this talented, unpredictable on the ball, young winger in our team! He would wreak havoc on others teams defences!
Although both Podolski and Lavezzi are good players they are also entering their post prime period as players. Inter cannot afford to use the little money we have on players who are the wrong age and have little or no resale value. We also have to be careful of creating short term road blocks for our youth and players of potential causing them to either lose confidence or go out on loan. Bonazzoli in particular should always be looked upon as one of our first call up subs, or even a starters. Even though he is still to young his age shouldnt matter. If he is good enough he is old enough. We cannot waste his talent.
I agree with you regarding Lavezzi, but I see Podolski as a perfect fit for us at this moment in time since he can cover several positions and roles in attack. Regarding the resale part, im sure that Ausilio and Tohir are not expecting to cash in on these mentioned players, but I do believe that they expects these types of players to help us qualify for the CL. If not this year (which seems impossible) then next year maybe. I know that Lavezzi and Podolski is no guarantee for this, but its surely an upgrade of some size – keeping in mind that we are desperate for wingers. And if we were to qualify for the CL then im sure that we will “earn/save” in a economical aspect. I would love to see more youngsters in this Inter, but I cant imagine us qualify for CL in many years with the current squad combined with some new investments in youngsters. But I might be wrong – and I honestly do hope that im wrong! But given our financial situation we should rely more on our own youngsters, I agree. Besides, they might get valuable some day for sale.
However if Shaq looks for a key role, he won’t have it in Juve.
I hate to say this, but we have dreamed too much if we want big name players to come to us especially there are other suitors for the same player.
