Sky reports about Inter’s probable formation against Juventus on Tuesday. Waiting for Podolski the coach put Kovacic behind Icardi in the 4-2-3-1 with Hernanes to the right and Palacio to the left. Hernanes has never played on the right wing before this game but it could still be used as a solution by Mancini against Juve.

Based on this news, the starting lineup would be like the first formation I attached here. I guess it is the most balanced formation to deal with Jube’s strong midfielders. However, I do really hope that Podolski will be eligible and maybe introduced later in this game as a left winger or second striker. If Jube led in the first half, Mancio would switch to more attacking formation with Podolski in the left flank (second formation). Let’s cross our fingers that Icardi will show again his greatness against Jube. And let’s pray harder that Rano or Nagatomo will not mess up with the defensive play again. Forza Inter!

I’m guessing this “Hernanes on the wing” thing is just an improvisation until Mancio gets proper wingers (Podolski and hopefully Shaqiri). Hernanes belongs in midfield alongside Medel.

I’m thinking something like this (the name at the top being the preferred starter). This looks pretty decent and worthy of 3rd place.
Icardi
Podolski – Kovacic – Guarin
Medel – hernanes
Guarin play like crazy footballer and i know it but when he play as winger he did well.
I hope shaqiri come , we need a player like him (hardly).
Er really need one more wingplayer if Mancini is gonna play 4-2-3-1, if Saqiri comes i hope we will play like this:
Icardi
Podolski – Hernanes – Shaqiri
Medel – Kovacic
Kovacic is better in a more central role and Hernanes has a much better shoot then Kova thats why he needs to be closer to goal.
If not Shaqiri comes we still ned a winger then i hope for Salah or Lavezzi, but i prefer Shaqiri.
I’ve been thinking about the Hernanes/Kovacic conundrum as well, and have come to the same conclusions as you as far as your scenario is concerned (Hernanes shoots better and Kovacic needs more space).
On the other hand, Mateo is a lot faster, which is very important for a trequartista (which, in turn, is very important to Mancini as a central role in his systems) and Hernanes is a lot better as far as defensive duties are concerned (Medel will need support in midfield).
Hernanes played to the left in Lazio when he was really good! And i think puting Palacio on a wing is very good for him becaouse he played as one when he did 19 goals for Genoa! And one thought i have, why dont Inter reeducate Palacio to a midfielder? He run as hell and can be a really good right or left midfielder!! 🙂
Hmm can’t recall Hernanes being a winger in a system like 4-2-3-1, think he lacks the pace for it. He probably is fit for it if Mancini puts him there, though.
As for Palacio, of course he can be great on the wing, the man runs his ass off every single game. I think with Poldi + Shaqiri + perhaps Diarra Inter have proper depth.
Yea the pace can be a problem but if he play smart it will be fine and if he get help from the LB! Palacio on the wing can be good for him when it will take of the pressure of him to make many goals!
Medel-kovacic-hernanes should play together. Also, kova and hernanes can switch position each other as they have good skills, vision and creativity. But hernanes is more dangerous in front of goals coz he has good long shoot and can use booth of his foot together

Both
yes medel hernanes tandem
i have to disagree. kovacic improved so much and quickly as trequarista (under Mancini) and his shooting is nice too. i would prefer to play kova as trequarista and hernanes in a deeper position.
podolski can play on the wing?
He is second forward (SS) but yeah , he can play as a winger And sometimes in Arsenal he did.
He almost Always was used as a winger in Arsenal!
Actually, he’s perfectly capable as a winger, he spent a lot of time in his career playing on the flank, especially in the German national team.
He played as a striker in Arsenal recently because Arsenal were lacking strikers (especially with Giroud injured) and they have wingers in abundance.
yup, that’s where he plays for Germany
Yes almost always but he isn’t a dribbling or tricky style winger he is stable with good decision making – he drifted from Striker as he got older to CF then to LW…..his preferred position is behind striker as Wenger said, where he can unleash rockets that actually go on target unlike Guarin. I’d love to see Guarin play as a ST because I’ve no idea where he can fit in – i like him though.
